Sometimes words don't cut it. Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or seeking a safe space to explore your inner world? Art therapy uses tools that take traditional talk therapy to the next level by giving you an embodied experience. The heart of my practice is believing people are their own experts. You are the ONLY you with your exact values, experiences, routines, heartaches, and desires. I want you to feel seen, foster a deeper understanding of your journey, and find answers and solace through your own innate intuition. If you're new to art therapy you may not be aware of how creativity can open new doors of understanding and connection. Sometimes we get stuck on a judgmental message from 1st grade that we aren’t “good” at artmaking. Well, I say forget that! You ARE inherently creative and it’s okay to heal using both the logical AND intuitive sides of your brain. You get to lead at your comfort level and I will authentically support you using tools and techniques (whether open-ended or more structured) to guide you. If you are seeking space to work through an issue you're having, improve self-esteem, cope with anxiety or depression, manage stress, deal with relationship or parenting issues, process trauma, or just vent, consider reaching out to me.

My work is motivated by my passion for human connection. At Thrive, I offer therapy for both couples and individuals, supporting clients’ inquiry into how they experience their own BELONGING and how they can access more joy and meaning in their relationship with themselves, the ones they love, and the world around them. I earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University, with a concentration in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Psychology. My approach to therapy incorporates my training in Gestalt Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, Internal Family Systems (IFS), as well as her decade of experience in teaching yoga and working outside. I also enjoy incorporating the Enneagram into my work with clients, which can serve as a powerful tool for spiritual and relational development. Though I am not a native speaker, Sydney is bilingual in both English and Spanish and welcomes working with native Spanish speakers who might be yearning for a space to speak both in their therapeutic work. I also have both personal and professional experience working with the impacts of a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and feels passionate about supporting clients who are navigating those challenges.

Although college can be a time of excitement and exploration, it can also feel extreme and bring up feelings that can be challenging to sort out on our own. Having the right support can make all the difference. At In Bloom Psychotherapy we are here to support you on this journey exactly as you are, helping you find the tools and resources to provide some relief and a better understanding of yourself. Among other issues, we specialize in working with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, grief, relational issues, depression, college athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts. We incorporate body awareness and mindfulness into sessions because talk therapy alone may not be enough to shift old patterns and create new neural pathways in the brain. Some of our clinicians are trained in EMDR therapy and utilize approaches such as parts work, IFS, DBT, CBT, mindfulness and attachment theory. We know finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming and daunting. If something in this bio resonates with you, please reach out for a free twenty-minute phone consultation.

Do you feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself, or ready for meaningful change? Are you looking for more than just symptom management to understand yourself more deeply, develop healthier patterns, and create a life that feels more aligned and authentic? As a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC), I help you explore your experiences with compassion, curiosity, and practical tools. My specialties include navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, major life transitions, self-esteem challenges, and questions around identity and purpose. Every person deserves to feel heard, understood, and accepted for who they are. As your therapist, I strive to be a compassionate and collaborative partner in your healing process and look forward to supporting you as you develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and connection with yourself. I believe therapy is a space where you should feel seen, supported, and empowered to create meaningful change at your own pace. Our work together is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity to achieve just that, integrating evidence-based approaches like EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness, cognitive-based interventions, and person-centered therapy to help you better understand yourself, heal from past experiences, and build a stronger relationship with your thoughts, emotions, and inner world. Therapy is tailored to your unique needs, values, and goals, using this same collaborative and compassionate style throughout our work together. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you reconnect with your own strengths and wisdom. My path to becoming a therapist grew from my own deep interest in human healing, self-discovery, and the ways people transform through meaningful support and connection. A background in Mindfulness, meditation, and contemplative practices deepened my appreciation for the complexity of the human experience and the importance of approaching each person with compassion and curiosity. I bring this same warmth, authenticity, and a holistic perspective to each session now while honoring each patient's unique story and journey. Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time in nature, hiking, traveling, practicing yoga and meditation, reading, and exploring creative and spiritual practices. I also love learning about different cultures, spending time with loved ones, and finding moments of curiosity and wonder in everyday life.

I was raised in a commune-style farm setting in rural Pennsylvania, and earned my BA from Middlebury College and then my MA in counseling psychology from Lesley College. I am currently pursuing her certificate in Modern Psychoanalysis at the Academy for Clinical and Applied Psychoanalysis in Livingston, NJ. I am a mother of three and a longtime practitioner of yoga, meditation, and Jin Shin Jyutsu (Japanese acupressure). These practices inform my interest in the well-being of the whole person. I provide a safe and comfortable space where you can explore the parts of your life that you value and also the parts you may want to change. My approach is to cultivate a sense of curiosity and kindness while supporting you in saying whatever is on your mind. As we put our thoughts and feelings into words, we tend to grow more comfortable in ourselves, even in the midst of discomfort. We may find ourselves in more positive relationships at home, at school, and at work. We may find more clarity about how we want to live our lives. Whether in person or online, I see the therapeutic process as a catalyst for reflection, exploration, self-understanding, and personal growth. Together, we will work to understand the richness of who you are and resolve whatever is getting in the way of achieving your personal and professional goals.

I have 30 years of working with adolescents and young adults. My approach to therapy is founded in the value of the therapeutic relationship. It is very important my clients feel heard and validated with a sense of security as they explore their experiences of both suffering and success. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidenced based psychotherapy treatment to help improve communication with others, reduce fears and phobias, interrupt thoughts that lead to addictive or other self-destructive behaviors, improve self esteem and change negative thought patterns. I have extensive experience working with diverse populations in psychiatric hospitals, treatment programs, the criminal justice system, young adult transitional programs, family systems and private practice.

As a therapist, I offer insight-oriented therapy, which includes deep self-reflection, exploration of your hopes and goals, and artistic exploration. My practice focuses on attachment work, which helps people to strengthen their connection with their truth and authenticity. Being true to ourselves leads to greater self-worth, intuition, empathy, and better relationships. We can more confidently pursue our passions and purpose, and be more clear on our next steps in life. Young adults often see me to address the transition to college or graduation from college. Others are dealing with difficult family dynamics, including situations where their identities or life choices are not accepted or respected by family members. Some are seeking guidance as they develop their professional identity and consider their life trajectory. Others are healing from trauma, including sexual assault or abuse. The tools I draw on when working with young adults include talk therapy and EMDR—and I also find mediums like sand tray and art therapy to be useful. I offer sessions in-office or nature-based.
