Hello and welcome! Do you regularly feel as if you are not enough? Do you have difficulty saying no or asking for help? Are you struggling to communicate your needs within your relationships? Are you experiencing feelings of anxiety and depression, stress, low self-esteem, or struggling with substance use? If you are seeking a safe and nonjudgmental space to work through some of life’s challenges, now is the time to begin your journey of self-understanding, healing, and growth. Operating from a feminist lens, I understand the unique influences of cultural and sociopolitical determinants of health. I am a licensed mental health counselor with years of experience working in various settings serving a diverse population of people. I have extensive experience working with adults experiencing challenges around anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship issues, self-esteem, and life transitions. I have special interest in women's mental health. From a warm and inviting therapeutic space where individuals feel supported and empowered, I assist individuals in identifying their strengths, learning the skills necessary for symptom management, and expanding their sense of self so that they may lead meaningful and fulfilling lives. My work explores outlets that resonate deeply with client values.

Fundamentally, my aim is to support my clients in contacting their inner self-knowing, and "make friends" with all of the various parts of themselves in the warmth and security of this inner space. To achieve this, I practice person-centered therapy, with a strong emphasis on somatic awareness. When working with clients, I am listening for "what wants to be heard" that day. In my view, I am a supportive and curious observer, and my job is to reflect back to my client what I am seeing. My style tends to be more direct, and I regularly encourage my clients to take ownership over their treatment and to trust themselves. In a first session with me, we explore where you've been, where you are, and where you would like to go. Often, I invite people to tell me their story and then describe their current situation. We will work together to assess what feels like the most supportive areas of focus, and will create some goals which guide our future sessions. During this process, however, you can still expect curiousity, empowerment, and validation. What's most important in any session is establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.

"I can't find meaning in life" ... "I don't know how to be real with myself or those around me" ... "I don’t feel connected to my partner anymore." Everyone wants to feel connected. We yearn to feel we belong and have meaning in who we are and what we do. Yet, it is not always that easy. I get it. However, I believe therapy can be a space for us to work together on finding meaning and developing the relationships you want. That is why I am here. To see you, to hear your voice, to understand your story, and to walk alongside you to get to where you want to go. Above all else, I believe in utilizing a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach to counseling to understand all of who you are--your thoughts, feelings, somatic experiences, desires, beliefs, and relationships. This way, you can become more aligned with your heart, mind, and body, working together to achieve your goals. In addition, I believe in using your values, purpose, and "why's" to help you align what you are doing and want to do with why you want to do it. As Friedrich Nietzsche states, "He who has a why to live can bear almost any how."

You've done the hard thing. You made a decision to talk to someone and you're here. If you are trying to understand the depression that won't go away, even on good days, or quiet the running dialogue in your head that doesn't ever stop, I can help. I can help you manage the behaviors that you can't seem to walk away from, or teach your nervous system to relax so you don't have to feel like you're on hyper-alert all the time. If you need to talk openly about the things you've lost, or things you've seen, or just how much it hurts, I can walk with you through all of it. In my 28 years as a therapist, I have addressed several mental health issues, and consider substance use, military experience, trauma, depression, loss, grief, and spirituality, as specialties. I also offer therapy for suicidal ideation or suicide-centered issues (ideation, attempt or grief), and don't shy away from having the real conversation. I know it takes a lot to choose therapy, more so to pick a therapist. My first goal for us is to build trust, a sense of psychological safety which I value for you more than anything.

Hi! My main goal is always to help my clients to help themselves, so you feel empowered to embrace stress and change as it comes. With experience working in an eating disorder hospital and 7 years working as a therapist in the Athletic Depts at UT Austin and CU Boulder, I've been involved with supporting my clients through the life challenges that high schoolers, young adults, and adults face for my entire professional career. I am EMDR certified and use this to treat trauma, eating disorders, chronic pain, urges in addiction/EDs, and sport performance (both positive reinforcement as well as treating mental blocks). I particularly enjoy teaching tools for navigating anxiety and depressive symptoms, helping to make peace with body image, and supporting mental performance for sport. I also have a passion for supporting perfectionists to expand their view of themselves and learn to release a little of the control that is actually controlling them!

My ideal client is motivated to improve their quality of life and may struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and grief/trauma related issues. They are interested in understanding themselves and cultivating healthy coping strategies to deal with the challenges of our modern world, with the ultimate goal of thriving, not just surviving. They understand that we all have the opportunity to continue growing and want to live a more self-expressed life by identifying and challenging negative and self-limiting thinking patterns. I compassionately support and validate my clients, while also encouraging them to take on the challenges in their life. I have significant experience with mindfulness practices and believe in the power of creativity (writing, music, art) as a therapeutic tool. Most people are settling for less than what their lives can possibly be. I am committed to helping you lead a self-expressed life and to help you see all the ways that you are a gift to yourself and others. I do not have all the answers, but I believe that together we can inspire each other and produce breakthroughs you may not think are possible.
