I believe therapy can make a profound, positive impact, helping you heal and becoming the best version of yourself. My approach is collaborative—getting to know you, understanding your concerns, and working together to create treatment goals that improve your mental health. I support clients facing challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, prenatal and postpartum depression, and substance use. I also work with clients around racial and immigrant identity, and life transitions in young adulthood. In our sessions, I provide a safe, inclusive space where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. I’m a social person who enjoys hiking, traveling, and exploring creativity through stand-up comedy and improv. My warmth and humor help create a relaxed environment where you can feel at ease while we work through your challenges. If you often hold your feelings in, struggle to find someone to talk to, or cope with trauma through unhealthy habits like substance use, now may be the time to seek help. Therapy is a sign of strength, not weakness—taking the first step toward healing is brave and empowering, and I’m here to support you in becoming a happier, healthier version of yourself.

Psychologist
Mansfield, MA

Dr. Sean Paul, Psy.D., is a clinical psychologist who specializes in trauma, anxiety, and helping individuals navigate stressful or demanding periods of life. He brings a grounded, real-world understanding of resilience, emotional coping, and the challenges people face during and after difficult or overwhelming experiences. Over time, Dr. Paul’s private practice has expanded to serve individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their direction in life, not just those in formal high-stress professions. He works with adults navigating anxiety, the impact of past experiences, and major life transitions. He specializes in trauma-related concerns, combining clinical expertise with a practical understanding of how people adapt, cope, and rebuild after difficult events. Dr. Paul’s approach is collaborative and respectful, recognizing that clients are the experts in their own lives. He helps people clarify what matters most to them and take an active role in shaping their therapeutic goals, while providing professional guidance, structure, and steady support. His services include trauma-focused therapy for individuals impacted by difficult or distressing experiences, support for people in high-stress or high-responsibility roles including but not limited to veterans and first responders, treatment for individuals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or dissatisfied with their current life direction, and collaborative, client-guided treatment planning that aligns therapy with each person’s values and goals.

My job as your therapist is to provide a supportive, non-judgmental, goal-oriented environment for you to highlight and cultivate your best self. Or, in the words of Dolly Parton: "Find out who you are, and do it on purpose." I value humor, humility, and building on your existing strengths to help achieve your goals. My work is informed by a strong belief that our wellbeing is impacted by the environments within which we exist, and I work to help improve the communities and systems that we all inhabit. I specialize in helping clients address anxiety, depression, trauma, and identity development. My approach is casual and client-centered. My theoretical orientation is eclectic, meaning I draw on a broad range of clinical interventions and theories to best suit your specific needs. It's important to find a therapist who feels like a good fit. I invite you to reach out so we can touch base by phone and discuss any questions you might have about the therapy process.

Anxiety and depression can make college feel overwhelming—constant worry, overthinking, feeling on edge, sudden waves of panic, or getting stuck in “what if” thoughts and mental loops. For some students, it also shows up as perfectionism, needing things to feel just right, or feeling driven to overanalyze, check, or mentally replay situations. For others, they get stuck and can't make decisions, start tasks, and quickly fall behind. My work with students is practical, goal-focused, and skills-based. Together, we focus on tools you can actually use in daily life—learning how to step out of worry and mental loops, tolerate uncertainty and distress, understand and name emotions, and respond more flexibly when strong, uncomfortable emotions show up. We’ll also look at how your emotions influence your choices, habits, and relationships, and work toward changes that help you move forward. The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety or other uncomfortable emotions completely, but to help emotions to have less control over your thoughts, decisions, and day-to-day life so you can feel more present and grounded. My focus is on individual therapy for anxiety, social anxiety, panic, OCD, adjustment issues, depression and trauma focused therapy for PTSD.

The transition to college or graduate school can be a time of tremendous change. Adapting to new environments, relationships and levels of independence can feel overwhelming in even the best of circumstances. For those who are navigating mental health challenges, complicated family or friend dynamics, shifts in identity, grief, or loss, that transition can generate feelings of anxiety, panic or paralysis that may affect daily functioning. I was a client long before I became a therapist, so I know how daunting it can be to open yourself up to a stranger – to let them see those private parts of yourself that might have been a source of judgment, fear, pain or shame. It took me many years to ask for help, in part because I viewed it as a sign of weakness. Now, through the lens of both my professional and lived experiences, I see this first step you are taking for what it is – one of the ultimate signs of strength. I honor the courage it took to access that strength. I can’t guarantee that the work ahead will be easy – but you won’t have to do it alone. My goal as a therapist is to meet you where you are and walk with you as you move toward where you want to be. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is authentic, safe and non-judgmental. My approach to our work together is relationship-based and trauma-informed. I believe that therapy is most effective when the connection between client and therapist is grounded in trust and compassion. I invite you to reach out so that we can explore, together, whether I might be the right person to join you on your journey toward new insights, self-awareness and growth. Please note that discounts are available to full-time students on a case-by-case basis.

I offer therapy for adults, adolescents and children and specialize in concerns commonly experienced in college aged clients like: Depression and Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders and Social Anxiety Disorder. The transition into college and the transition into life after college are among the more exciting and stressful times in anyone's life. Therapy offers a safe place to process and explore complex and often overwhelming feelings that are a normal part of navigating change in areas of life like relationships, careers and financial stress, self care, boundaries and coping with the increasing uncertainty that comes with young adulthood. I work collaboratively and actively from a strengths based, developmental perspective that meets you where you are without judgement and with hope. I am available to meet in person in my office or over secure, confidential video sessions and hold multiple state licenses which allows me to work with students not located in MA.

I specialize in working with young adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and identity concerns. I have particular experience providing gender-affirming therapy and supporting clients as they explore and celebrate their gender identities. My goal is to help you build a meaningful life by identifying and embracing your authentic self. I emphasize teaching coping skills that will empower you to confront life's many challenges with dignity and integrity. Compassion and social justice are at the center of my practice. My approach is collaborative, curious, strengths-based, and playful. As we confront your experiences of suffering or injustice, you will find me both empathetic and irreverent: there is strength in humor and in sincerity. In our first sessions, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we clarify what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. I firmly believe therapy should be a place where you feel seen, valued, and understood, and I encourage you to reflect on whether this feels true after our first meeting.
