Therapists for college students near Boston College
I’m a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who cares deeply about helping college students feel supported during a time that can be both exciting and overwhelming. Many students come to me with anxiety, depression, stress, grief, past trauma, or the challenges of adjusting to new environments and expectations. I offer a comfortable, understanding space where you can talk openly about what you’re going through. My focus is on helping you feel heard, build healthy coping skills, and gain confidence as you navigate college life. My goal is to support you so you can feel more grounded, understood, and ready to grow during this important time in your life.
Are you having difficulty adjusting to school? Away from home for the first time? Looking towards the future when you will have graduated and are out on your own? Wondering who you are and who you want to be? Facing so many changes and transitions at once can be completely overwhelming, even on the best of days. Sometimes it really helps to talk with a neutral person who can understand the pressure you are under, but who is not in your immediate circle. I specialize in supporting people who are facing transitions in their lives, especially when this feels overwhelming or intimidating. My practice is open and affirming to people of all ages, genders, sexual identities, ethnic backgrounds, and spiritual beliefs.
Hi, I'm Lauren! I am a non-binary, queer AuDHD therapist practicing psychodynamic clinical social work in Massachusetts and Oregon. I also identify as white and mid-fat. My pronouns are she/they. In my practice, I specialize in working with adults who identify as, or are exploring whether they may be, LGBTQIA2S+ and/or neurodivergent, especially autistic and/or ADHD. In addition, I help clients work through issues related to depression, anxiety, and relational difficulties. Through an affirming and integrative approach, I provide a warm and supportive therapeutic environment for clients to explore their inner selves and make positive changes in their lives. My work with clients is collaborative, as together we delve into the reasons behind persistent challenges and unearth new aspects of their identities and experiences, ultimately making space for growth, healing, and flourishing. For neurodivergent clients, our sessions often involve working on strategies to improve executive functioning, which includes skills like task initiation, time management, organization, attention, and planning. My approach is aligned with the Health at Every Size (HAES) framework.
I am well versed in the transition from high school to college. I am familiar with college expectations, the challenges of making new friends, and learning how to be independent. College can be such an exciting time but also really hard! It is so important to learn strategies to manage stress and having a safe place to talk about whatever you need.
I provide individual therapy to individuals who are looking for help to cope with life's various twists and turns. I utilize an organic approach to gain an understanding of your specific life situations and stressors that are contributing to your current feelings. I use positive affirmations, strength identification and skill building to encourage you to reach your personal goals. We will work quickly to alleviate uncomfortable symptoms while we learn to identify triggers that may cause these feelings in order to focus on making long term changes that will help you to move forward through life. I would love the opportunity to work with you to find a way to bring out the strength that is inside of you. You are capable of so much more than you can even imagine!

Sometimes the stress associated with being in school, learning who you are, developing relationships, and generally navigating college life can lead to feelings and experiences that are very difficult to navigate alone. Even the adjustment to college can be very challenging, and sometimes old patterns that you thought you left behind can start revealing themselves again. Perhaps new patterns are concerning you. It's okay to reach out for help. Feeling better is truly possible, even when it feels like it might not be, or that you don't really need help. You don’t have to live in pain, pretend that it’s all okay, or manage alone. Together we can find a way to more ease, love, understanding, and acceptance. The journey to self-love, healing and wholeness is full of discovery, and requires a trusting, therapeutic relationship. Finding a skilled therapist, who is a good fit for you is essential. If you think I might be a good fit for you, let's connect.

Do you feel like your emotions get in the way of you achieving your goals, affect your relationships, and keep you feeling stuck? Do you feel frustrated, unable to break patterns, or move forward? Or has a new life transition impacted you greatly and you don’t know where to go from here? My focus is on helping you learn how to regulate your emotions -- to be more in control of them than they are of you. In our sessions, we'll identify patterns, better understand them, and work together to come up with a plan of how to achieve your goals. My background is in CBT, DBT, trauma, grief and loss, and perinatal mental health. It can be hard taking the first step when you're struggling, but you've already done it by being here! If you live in MA or NJ, are open to telehealth sessions, and think we may be a good match, you can learn more about me at my website. I look forward to hearing from you!
College can come with a lot of pressure - school, relationships, family expectations, and trying to figure out who you are becoming. Many of the college students and young adults I work with feel anxious, burnt out, stuck in overthinking, disconnected from themselves, or are navigating the impact of past trauma while doing their best to manage daily responsibilities. Hi, my name is Jasmin Mantilla Carrillo and I am a Master of Social Work clinical intern at Intrinsic Bloom Therapy. I enjoy working with college students and young adults experiencing anxiety, stress, and trauma. In our work together, we can explore what is coming up for you right now while building practical tools to help you manage stress, regulate emotions, and feel more grounded in your day to day life. I receive advanced training in psychotherapy and work under the close supervision of Chelsea Hepburn, Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Clinical Supervisor at Intrinsic Bloom Therapy - meaning you are supported by both me and an experienced clinician throughout the therapy process. Intrinsic Bloom Therapy offers telehealth therapy for college students and young adults in Connecticut (CT) and Massachusetts (MA) and offers a sliding scale.

I accept some insurances, out-of-network and self-pay. I am licensed in both MA and NH. I currently work with coming-of-age/young adults (18-35ish) with anxiety, depression, stress management challenges and big life changes (going to college, new moms, ending a relationship, etc). I have some flexibility outside this description on a case-by-case basis and would be happy to talk to see if we would be a good fit. I specialize in utilizing a relational approach to support young adults who are struggling with eating disorders & anxiety disorders. I particularly enjoy supporting young adults as they grapple through the transition to adulthood & the related issues that arise including identity development, relational conflict, and career development. I believe that my clients are experts in their own experiences & I feel privileged to be allowed into their lives. I strive to create a warm, safe & non-judgmental space for my clients, in which I bring curiosity & compassion to every session.
As people, we are always in bloom. Over time, we become different versions of ourselves. The shifting landscape of how we relate to the world around us can be both thrilling and terrifying, and it can be hard to know how to process and adjust to life's transitions. I support clients in developing insight into their internal worlds, and exploring how core perspectives and beliefs shape interactions in the external world. Through this process, clients are able to identify aspects of past versions of themselves that are no longer serving them, and areas of strength that they can carry forward into future phases. I take an eclectic, person-centered approach to counseling in order to provide unique, personalized care. I prioritize creating a genuine connection with my clients based on trust, honesty, and respect. I balance creativity and practicality when problem-solving, and use psychoeducation to demystify and destigmatize mental health topics. My approach to counseling has been developed over three years of professional work in a variety of settings. I have worked with clients of all ages, with a wide variety of needs, abilities, and backgrounds. And, even with the skills I’ve acquired so far, I am also still in progress: I intend to continue learning, changing, and blooming along with you.
