For the past decade, Michelle (she/her) has dedicated herself to understanding and supporting the unique journeys of individuals from various walks of life. Her vast experience spans across multiple settings and states, with a significant emphasis on acute care, addressing the needs of people across different age groups and objectives. While Michelle is knowledgeable in a variety of therapeutic modalities, she believes that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all solution. In partnership with her clients, she explores personalized techniques and skills that resonate with their unique experiences and aspirations. By cultivating a trauma-informed space, she ensures every client feels safe, valued, and genuinely heard throughout their therapeutic journey. Moreover, Michelle's strengths-based approach empowers clients, helping them harness their inherent potential and pave the way toward their goals. With her, therapy is a collaborative effort, placing equal weight on understanding one's present as much as visualizing and working toward the desired future. Michelle's commitment to inclusivity and individualized care is evident in her extensive training with reputable institutions such as the Transgender Training Institute, Open Sky, and MaMHCA. Beyond formal education, she constantly seeks out diverse resources to refine her expertise, ensuring her approach is both informed and empathetic. As a registered provider with GALAP, Michelle has also been an ally to many in their pursuit of affirming medical care, emphasizing her deep dedication to fostering genuine understanding and respect in her practice.

Hello! My overarching approach is Relationship-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I find that integrating CBT with key therapeutic relationship factors such as validation, empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness produce the best outcomes. When appropriate, I also utilize such approaches as mindfulness, acceptance, and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills. My goal is to not only reduce the distress from your presenting problems but also improve your overall well-being and experience personal growth across many facets of life. I have specialized in treating adolescents and adults in various settings, from inpatient psychiatric hospitals to community outpatient clinics. I can treat significant mental health issues like PTSD and chronic depression, while also providing support for significant life adjustments like transitioning to college and high school related stressors. I’m originally from central MA and a psychology professor at Assumption University where I teach graduate students to be CBT counselors. Please feel free to explore my website to learn more about me and the services I provide. I pride myself in establishing a strong therapeutic relationship while working towards goals that are important to you!

I am a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in addressing trauma, stress, anxiety, and adjustment concerns in adults. My practice focuses on helping individuals process difficult emotions and live more meaningful lives. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is tailored to the individual needs, strengths, and values of each client. Together, we will work to identify your treatment goals, further develop existing strengths, learn new skills, and pursue what is most important to you. I aim to create a non-judgmental space and to be authentic and compassionate in my work. I am dedicated to providing culturally responsive care and welcome clients of diverse backgrounds and identities. My approach integrates cognitive and behavioral principles (such as CBT, ACT, mindfulness) and uses evidence-based trauma-focused therapies (e.g., cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure). I tailor my psychotherapy services to meet each client’s individual goals and values. Please contact me to learn more and see if we might be a good fit.

I specialize in sleep difficulties, anxiety, nightmares, and trauma. I have a passion for helping people achieve their mental health goals and regain the energy and focus they need to achieve their goals and ambitions. I have seen evidence-based practices for insomnia, nightmares and trauma begin to alleviate debilitating symptoms in a very short amount of time. Whether you have been suffering for 3 months or 3 decades, I have witnessed people recover and regain a quality of their lives they thought was lost. Since recovery can be abrupt and dramatic for some, I also address adjustment to your sense of identity and grief associated with the many losses these struggles have caused. My style is interactive and direct, and I am passionate about helping clients work through areas where they feel stuck and hopeless. I understand how sleep issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, and interpersonal conflicts can make every day a struggle. One of my greatest joys is witnessing a client regain hope and recognize the ripple effect the one small change they made will have on their lives. We will work together to discover your strengths, learn new skills, and use them to create positive, lasting change.

Have you been in therapy before or are you new to mental health therapy? My goal as your therapist is to meet you where you are at and move together towards the changes you would like to see. I pull from a variety of different styles to address your goals, including skill building, CBT, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed care approaches. I hope to foster a space where you feel seen and heard and where you are able to take care of what has brought you to therapy (or back to therapy) in the first place. I offer weekly, bi-weekly, or, in some cases, monthly sessions at 45 or 60 minutes in length via telehealth. All sessions start with a phone call where we 1) make sure I am the right fit for you, 2) verify your insurance or payment method is active and all set, and 3) schedule you an intake and an ongoing appointment time that works for your schedule. I return all calls and email requests for therapy services and hope that I may be of help to you at this point in time or, at the very least, be able to point you in the right direction.

The road to self discovery is scary, and you are taking the first steps in seeking out the right therapist for you. It’s an important investment and you want to make sure you find just the right connection. My approach is deeply personal. Working with each person to learn and identify how they are impacted by the stories of their life and their history. In doing so, we are able to bring out what is truly possible. I believe strongly in the power of our stories. From a very young age, we all start learning things about ourselves and our world. These “life lessons” start to turn into the stories we repeat to ourselves over and over again. They become who we are. Those stories are not always nice and they hold us back. But most importantly, they are often not true! They are the stories we created when we were young and we have retold them to ourselves over and over again in a weird game of telephone with one player.

My passion is working with people who are beginning to realize they feel exhausted and overwhelmed, and think it may be because of patterns of people-pleasing and perfectionism. They are beginning to realize that their drive to be high-achieving might be fueled by low self-esteem. They are performing well in many aspects of life, but they still don’t feel good enough. I also have a passion for working with adult children of emotionally dysfunctional families, who realize that current relationship stress may stem from the stressful family environment they grew up in.

I use psychotherapy and medications to help people with stress-related conditions. I am interested in not only alleviating symptoms but helping my clients understand the underlying causes that bring them into treatment. If we are able to connect in a way that you feel understood and I can see the world as if in your shoes, then progress has begun. As a prescriber, I try to consider all the concerns expressed by my clients and come up with a plan that feels safe and right. I provide a detailed assessment and really try to include my clients in the decision-making process. As a therapist, I try to create a safe place for my clients to explore their thoughts and express their feelings. I am interested in seeing and understanding the world and especially relationships from my client's point of view. As a relational therapist, I try to help my client communicate more effectively and participate more deeply in relationships. I am trained in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapies and work relationally with clients. I am also trained in mentalization-based (MBT), transference-focused (TFP), accelerated dynamic experiential psychotherapy (AEDP), and intensive short term dynamic psychotherapy (ISTP). Patients must be in therapy to be seen by me, either with an outside therapist or internally. Any new patient requests must use "scheduling@thoughtfulpsychiatry.com" for outreach.

I offer IFS and EMDR therapy to empathetic, high-achieving women who struggle with self-doubt, people-pleasing, emotionally immature relationships, and cycles of trauma. My clients often find me when they can no longer manage the burden alone. They feel stuck in hurtful relationships, they lack trust in themselves, and they feel shame even when they know it’s not their fault. You deserve peace. My goal is to help you feel deeply connected to your values and intuition so you can break free from the cycles you’ve been stuck in and thrive as the most authentic version of yourself.
