Hello! Therapy is a process of self discovery. The decision to seek therapy is a sign of strength and an indication that you are willing to invest in yourself! The clients with which I work best share the willingness to commit to the process of therapy and do the hard work. My goal for each session is to create a warm and inviting atmosphere where together we can explore and discover insights about your life, the root causes of stumbling blocks, and the means to help you heal, change, and grow. Whether you have lifelong problems or perhaps more current issues you are dealing with, I believe there is always a path available for change. Each person is the best expert of their own lives and brings a unique set of strengths that often go untapped. With the proper identification of the problem, uncovering the root of destructive patterns of behavior & thought, plus insight and education, clients get “unstuck” and are able to move forward in their lives.

Prior to Covid-19 I began working with telehealth and moved towards seeing everyone from their own home to remove the barrier of the commute. Additionally I see people living in rural areas for specific needs such as gender dysphoria. My experience includes addressing trauma/PTSD, substance use/abuse and recovery, anxiety, depression, transgender and gender dysphoria, and LGBTQ+ issues for adolescents and adults as an ally. You can easily request and schedule our first appointment or phone consultation by reaching out today - preferably by email.

Grand Rapids, MI

Gordon Greer is an outpatient therapist with extensive experience working with teens, adults and families in outpatient mental health and inpatient psychiatric settings. He currently works with teens, adults and their families concerning a wide range of issues, including (but not limited to) anger, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, insomnia, sexual and gender identity (Gordon is an LGBTQIA+ ally), interpersonal relationships, personality disorders, traumatic stress, suicidality, and chemical and process addiction. Because of his sensitivity to the possible apprehension involved with anything new or personal, Gordon places a particular emphasis on helping clients and families feel at ease from the very beginning. His relaxed approach is primarily informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing, both evidence-based treatments. Gordon also is a certified alcohol and drug counselor trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Outside of session, he enjoys sports, going outside, dry humor, and being with his wife, sons and dog.

Hi, I’m Anthony — a therapist who believes you deserve to feel seen, heard, and accepted exactly as you are. Life can feel overwhelming (and let’s be real, a bit unhinged lately), especially for LGBTQIA+ folx and allies navigating identity, anxiety, relationships, trauma, or just the everyday stress of existing in a complicated world. My ideal client is someone who’s tired of masking, managing alone, or feeling like they’re “too much” — someone who wants connection, clarity, and the freedom to live more authentically. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you — it’s about creating a safe space to unpack what’s heavy and stressful.

Life is nuanced. It is filled with choices, priorities, curve balls, imperfection, and grace. It is a commemoration of beginnings and endings. I specialize in working with individuals going through significant transition. This could be career change, terminating a relationship, processing through grief or simply wanting to change a habit. I am here to support, empower, and advocate for you as you go through change and find secure footing in uncertain times. My approach to therapy is purposely eclectic and person-centered, and sometimes incorporates creative/artistic recovery into treatment. It is my experience that positive change is best achieved through a collaborative approach to treatment. It is my intention through our therapeutic relationship that you understand the inherent wisdom you possess and that you recognize your personal strengths which allows you to live an authentic and purposeful life. Most of my work has been in agencies and academia. I have worked with individuals in substance abuse recovery, individuals processing through traumas, individuals trying to manage overwhelming emotions and seeking coping skills, individuals who are wanting a healthier relationship with their body, and individuals who are going through transitions or career exploration.

Reaching out for help takes courage. It means that you are able to admit that you do not have all the answers and have the strength to acknowledge that you may be struggling. Experiencing personal conflicts can make you feel unsteady, anxious, and unsure about how to move forward. It is during these times, I believe that showing up authentically is the first step in moving forward. I believe that leaning into vulnerability and tuning into yourself is key to a transformative journey. Therapy is a safe place to remember who you are and discover the inherent power you hold to create a life that you will simply enjoy living. I view therapy as a collaborative process grounded in the human capacity for change. You are the expert of your own life and I desire to work alongside you to develop healthier relationships and learn effective strategies to overcome life’s obstacles. My goal is to create a supportive environment to foster healing, growth, and empowerment. I welcome all backgrounds with cultural sensitivity. I work with individuals seeking change in the areas of anxiety, depression, relationship/family conflict, childhood behavioral problems, mood stability, self-esteem, and trauma. In practice, I utilize cognitive behavioral approaches, solution-focused, trauma focused CBT, and mindfulness.

I believe that every person has the capacity to grow, develop strengths and skills, heal wounds, and experience new levels of wholeness. Therapy can be a catalyst for these changes; a place to be fully seen, known, and equipped. I work with women to uncover and correct unhelpful coping patterns and belief systems, create sustainable habits for mind-body-spirit wellness, establish healthy attachments in relationships, and foster a strong sense of resilience in the midst of challenges and traumas. My experience includes helping women navigate transitions and stressors related to college and post-college life, career goals or disappointments, work-life balance, identity and purpose, marriage and singleness, perinatal mood disorders, anxiety, and depression. Healing and hope occur in relationship; not isolation. Counseling is a safe space where you can share your burden with an empathetic helper attuned to your needs. I would be honored to hear your story and partner with you in your journey.
