The years of your twenties can be a time of growth and change. It also is a time filled with feelings of self-doubt, loneliness, and stress. You are being faced with challenges that didn't exist for your parents at your age. Now more than ever adolescents and young adults ages 13 and up are experiencing increasing symptoms of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and difficulties with relationships. Times are not what they used to be and you deserve to be heard. Your opinions and feelings matter! You have worth and your voice is valued. If judgment from others didn't exist, what goals and dreams would you reach for I am with you on this journey, to discover your strengths, empower your soul, uncovering the passion within you. I provide a safe and empathetic environment that utilizes skills focusing on regulating emotions, improving relationships, cognitive distortions, while also incorporating strengths to increase confidence and true acceptance of self. When I was in my twenties, rather than feeling possibilities were endless, I struggled with feeling lost and alone. This period represented inadequacy and defeat. They were the most challenging years in my life. Through the battle with myself, I discovered my passion and ability to truly relate and understand this age group. "I am built from every mistake I ever made." -unknown- "Show me the most damaged parts of your soul, and I'll show you how it still shines like gold." -Nikita Gill-

Many mental health issues are related to a trauma response in the brain and body. Trauma is often conceptualized as one single event or experience that causes intense fear or distress. However, not all people who experience these kinds of events develop trauma symptoms, and many people who do experience trauma symptoms cannot identify a single event such as this. Another way to understand trauma symptoms is that they occur when an individual’s context overwhelms their nervous system’s ability to cope. This forces the nervous system to utilize strategies to try to bring the body back into balance. These strategies are usually useful or adaptive in the moment, but unhealthy and disruptive in the long run. The coping patterns can be related to addiction, disordered eating, the way we emotionally engage in relationships, or the chronic up-regulation (anxiety) or down-regulation (depression) of our nervous system. All are attempts to process the energy stored in the nervous system in response to stressors. Together we will utilize elements of mindfulness, somatic expression, Family Systems Theory, and Narrative therapy to develop new strategies to express emotion, regulate the nervous system, and communicate effectively with ourselves and with the people in our lives.

The term Legacy by definition means "something of value transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past." As I reflect upon my life I noticed people who laid up for me a legacy, a promise and hope. The most influential people who have impacted my life and who established a legacy for me were my grandparents. They established a legacy, it was the legacy of care, compassion, and goodwill to mankind. I saw kindness, love, patience, meekness, faithfulness, and gentleness and these are the qualities I bring into the therapeutic relationships. I am a believer that everyone's birth was triggered in the earth-realm for a purpose. There is a purpose attached to your life. I believe in helping people reach that purpose. Through the work that I do I seek to restore hope, and establish a legacy of abundant life. My goal as a fully licensed psychologist is to create an environment where you feel safe to be transparent to address whatever issues concern you. I look forward to entering into an alliance with you so you may begin the healing process, create a legacy and fulfill your life purpose.
