Together, we will work to identify and address the issues and obstacles keeping you from moving forward and getting what you want out of your life. Our sessions will help you cope more effectively with challenging situations and adjust more capably to changing circumstances using practical strategies that improve your symptoms and well-being. I work with adults and young adults from diverse backgrounds experiencing a wide variety of presenting concerns including: trauma, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, OCD, ADHD, military/veterans issues, and change of life events. I also have extensive experience coaching clients to reach professional, financial, educational and athletic performance goals. My goal is to guide and support you towards empowerment, growth, and healing. My approach to therapy is tailored to each individual client. I often incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy and narrative therapy into sessions. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with specialized training in EMDR, an evidence-based approach that helps people process unresolved trauma in more adaptive ways. EMDR can be used to treat a multitude of presenting issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, and phobias.

I know what it's like to be a college student and struggling with your mental health. It's a difficult and isolating experience. Finding healing in my clinical depression and anxiety was ultimately what led me to become a therapist, to help others like you going through it, too. When we talk about your thoughts and emotions, I know what you're going through and that pain you're experiencing. I also know the power of having a Christian counselor walk alongside you when your Christian faith is important to you. As a believer and therapist, I want to offer you both--a place where Jesus + therapy can co-exist. I offer Christian counseling to young women struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, and cross-cultural adjustment. I integrate clinical techniques along with Scripture and prayer, if you desire, as you work towards healing, renewal and hope! Send me an email today. Let's get started!

*Test anxiety? *Speaking and presentations seem impossible? *Looking for finally getting underneath and controlling your anxiety? ----Want to get underneath your feeling of angst, stress and uneasiness? I teach ways to reset and grow a nervous system that is able to find calm and relax even with time deadlines and performances. I help you create new habits that foster a positive, calm, productivity mindset. I use cutting-edge modern scientifically proven methods, along with, ancient powerful self-care methods that help people re-program sensitive nervous systems. I started her career as a Cognitive Behavioral therapist and over the last 25 years learned powerful methods to help clients make powerful changes on the moment. Many people I work with say the methods I teach seem too simple to work. I have found when people begin to use them regularly, they notice that other areas of their life begin to change as well. My focus is helping clients with Profoundly Simple selfcare that helps people thrive. Clients who see results commit to 5-10 minutes of using the skills we use in sessions in their everyday lives. This way they reset their baseline levels of tension and increase energy, cakm, and focus. I also have Calm and Centered Success groups that begin in September and January for applying skills in a more community setting with support and encouragement from others to make lastng life changes. If interested, text me, and we can set up a time to chat for free on the phone for about 15 min 508-812-8782. I am in-network for Aetna, Blue Cross of NC, and some Optum United Healthcare Plans. For others, I have a sliding scale to help make sessions work for you.

I specialize in relationship issues, breakups, and complex trauma processing, and I work with adult individuals and couples. Folks who struggle with boundaries, expressing needs, avoidance, anxiety, or managing conflict find our work rewarding. I'm especially passionate about supporting BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and highly sensitive folks. I help clients process distress, foster meaningful connections, and build resiliency. I’m a humanistic, strengths-based therapist, which means I believe that you already have what you need within you to thrive. We'll work together to heal past wounds and uncover the authentic self that lies beneath. I'm trauma-informed and attachment-oriented, and often use IFS and EFT interventions. I focus on creating experiences in session where you can connect to your body, emotions, and parts of yourself you’ve kept hidden, even from yourself. If you’re journeying as a couple, this may look like learning to connect in more vulnerable ways. Reaching out to a new therapist can feel daunting, and I get how important it is to find someone who feels right for you. I’m here to help you figure out what you really need and how we can make that happen together. I’m excited to meet you and help you find the trust, confidence, and peace of mind you deserve.

You may be feeling stuck—restless, lost, or weighed down by things you don’t fully understand. Maybe it’s unfinished business from childhood, the pressure to always have it together, or just a nagging sense that something is missing. I get it. Life can be overwhelming, and it’s easy to feel lost in the noise. During my time in the military, I saw how deeply these struggles run, and I’ve spent my career helping people work through them. I will offer you non-judgmental space where you can sort through it all. Therapy isn’t about quick fixes—it’s about real conversations, self-discovery, and building the life you actually want. My mission as your therapist is to collaborate with you in discovering your higher self. I practice from a Person-Centered lens that blends aspects of Gestalt Therapy, CBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing. I am also trained in Natural Flow EMDR & Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. I will treat you like a human, not a science project. I pride myself on my laidback, casual style and in this approach I hope to show you that therapy is not as intimidating or mysterious as it may seem. I urge you to come exactly as you are, bringing your whole self. I appreciate you and I look forward to meeting you very soon.

A lot of people say they knew at a young age they would be a therapist, but that wasn’t me. I grew up in a military family and thought I would continue that tradition and be a stay-at-home mom. Instead, I found myself in a journalism career and a marriage I didn’t like. Starting over after 30, I chose to return to school and pursue a degree in social work. Since then, I’ve worked with the military, in inpatient facilities, and in outpatient care. I love working with women who find themselves “outside the box” when it comes to societal expectations (child-free/childless, unmarried, or just a-plain-ol’ rebel). I love to focus on resiliency, self-improvement/self-esteem, personal growth, and even a bit of spirituality (if that's your thing). I'm a very laid-back, nontraditional therapist. I believe you are the expert in your own life and, sometimes, we just need some guidance or permission to do the things we know we need to do. I don't assign homework cause, frankly, I wouldn't do it if I were in your shoes, but I will suggest some tasks or actions that may be something to focus on between sessions. I also expect clients to show up with a discussion topic or something to start us off with; again, the time is yours to use as you feel best. I have very eclectic interests. Two things that are very important to me are spirituality and non-traditional relationships. I feel both have their own challenges and prejudices to overcome. I'm always looking for ways to include and incorporate my client's spiritual beliefs (if they choose to share) into sessions and help them build a strong foundation. Nontraditional relationships (including kink dynamics) can be a challenge to bring to therapy as there's often a perceived level of judgment—not here! I celebrate however your relationship looks and work to help you create the most nurturing and healthy relationship however that looks. One of my core values is curiosity, so I love it when I get to learn a little something from my clients. Having grown up in a military family that moved every three years like clockwork, learning about people and cultures has been a huge part of my life. I encourage my clients to practice showing and embodying their authenticity with me so they may go out into the world more confidently. I believe we all have something beautiful to share and learn from each other and I encourage those I work with to explore that on a deeper level.

Tara has an energetic laugh that puts clients at ease and enjoys playfully incorporating her love of sarcasm into her work with her clients. She has been known to lovingly call people out on their “bologna” when she hears it and is a great accountability partner. Tara is also incredibly empathetic and provides a warm and safe environment and a quiet listening ear when the situation calls for it. Noticing and reading nonverbal communication and body language is a skill Tara possesses in spades so she often learns a lot even from things that go unsaid. Tara is judgement free and she encourages you to be genuine and authentic. Tara is passionate about working with young adults who are struggling with life transitions or adjustments and those who experience anxiety due to "trying to do it all" and trying to be "everything for everyone". She knows and understands the pressures that our society puts on young adults and aims to help them regain control of the chaos and find some peace. Tara also loves guiding clients towards healing relationships and teaching more effective communication- whether it be with your spouse, a family member, or a co-worker/boss. Through their work together, Tara and her clients work to find tools and skills to improve the areas a client can change and ultimately work towards self-acceptance.
