Hello, my name is Shannon and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with seven years experience in psychotherapy and eleven years experience in overall behavioral health. Life is filled with ups and downs, both internally—in our thoughts and emotions—and externally— in circumstances and interpersonal relationships. It can be very difficult to navigate all of these stressors day-to-day, nonetheless do the work to reflect and restore. I believe in the way of “through”, I am an ever bringer of validation and hope, and holding space for your overall wellness. In my practice, I have worked closely with adolescents, adults, older adults, and families and utilize various therapeutic approaches and techniques. My specialities include anxiety, mood disorders, addiction and recovery, emotion regulation, and trauma. I offer a person-centered, strengths-based approach in my practice tailored to each client. I honor and affirm all LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC clients and I align as a body liberation provider. If you're feeling stuck in cycles you can't quite explain and want to understand yourself more fully, I can help. With over 20 years in clinical practice, I provide psychotherapy and assessment for adults with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. My psychotherapy approach is psychodynamic, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed. Together, we will explore how your symptoms may have developed as adaptations to difficult life experiences, identify recurring patterns and discover where change is possible. Part of our work is developing a way of listening that tunes in not only to what is being said but also to what remains unspoken. I provide personality and adult ADHD assessments. In my view, assessment is not simply a way to assign a diagnosis, but an opportunity to answer longstanding questions and recognize strengths alongside patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I have a particular interest in working with adults from immigrant backgrounds. Living between cultures can leave you feeling unsure where you belong or wondering how to stay true to yourself while remaining connected to your family and community. I offer a culturally attuned and respectful space where these experiences can be explored with self-compassion.
College can be an amazing and exciting time while also being a time of a lot of transition and acclimating to new routines and responsibilities. I work with students to help ease the challenge that those transitions can bring whether you are on your own for the first time, or have decided to go back and get your degree at a later point in life. If you are experiencing stressors that are causing symptoms of anxiety or depression or are just looking for someone you can talk to please feel free to reach out. I'm happy to schedule a consultation if you are interested in learning more about my practice or to find out if we would be a good fit.
Historically, I have worked with children and adults processing trauma, and supported those diagnosed with ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression. However, in recent years I have begun to narrow my focus on supporting University students. At this time in history I feel supporting the mental health of this group is of the utmost importance as they face existential and emotional challenges unique to the generations that have come before. Using a combination of creative interventions and talk therapy techniques, I offer a unique and collaborative therapeutic experience to support individuals through the transitional space of University life and provide a safe and affirming space for them to reflect on who they are and who they want to be in this world.
You can be surrounded by people and still feel completely alone. Maybe you grew up keeping the peace, managing everyone else's emotions, or shrinking yourself to avoid conflict, and now those same patterns are running your life. You overthink, you people-please, you second-guess yourself constantly. You are self-aware enough to know something is not working, and awareness alone has not changed it. These patterns have roots. Family wounds, early trauma, relationships that taught you it was not safe to be yourself. Insight goes a long way toward naming them and stops short of loosening them, which is not a failure of effort on your part. I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy, an eye movement therapy that works on the physical charge attached to a memory rather than the story about it. You do not have to describe what happened out loud. Most people notice a shift within one to five sessions, and I offer ART both in weekly therapy and as a single longer intensive session for students who want to resolve something specific without a semester-long commitment. I am also trained in EMDR and use a person-centered, strengths-based approach throughout. If you are ready to stop going through the motions and find out who you are when you are not managing everyone else, I would like to hear from you.

I have over 20 years experience in the human service field. My passion is providing compassionate support for those struggling with life's challenges in a safe and non-judgmental environment; assisting individuals in addressing what is troubling them; whether it is marital conflict, depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, trauma, anger management, serious mental illness, etc.; helping them to achieve their personal goals; effecting positive change and working toward desired outcomes. I incorporate principles from the Christian faith for those who desire that but work with all people/faiths indiscriminately. I love working with college-aged individuals; helping them to navigate the difficulties associated with entering adulthood successfully. I am closely located to Canisius, Medaille, UB South and Buffalo State colleges. Public transportation is available: the bus stops in front of the office and the Humboldt/Hospital Metrorail station is a block away. I also derive great joy in assisting married couples in developing more effective ways of communicating with the end goal of resolving conflict and enjoying a more satisfying relationship where both parties feel valued and connected to each other in a deep way.
I am a licensed mental health counselor specializing in working with adolescents and young adults (ages 13 and older) across various biological, psychological, and social backgrounds. My goal is to help you understand yourself within the context of your unique life experiences as you navigate mental health struggles. These may include emotional/behavioral dysregulation, communication challenges, life transitions, academic/work stress, grief/bereavement, LGBTQAI+ issues, harm reduction in substance use, and other day-to-day life stressors. The therapeutic alliance between therapist and patient is the most important part of therapy, and I am passionate about building that foundation of trust with you. Working together, you can expect an empowering, non-judgmental environment with a little sense of humor sprinkled in. I use a warm, welcoming, and person-centered approach to meet you where you’re at in your healing journey, allowing me to tailor my style and interventions to your therapeutic goals and needs. These interventions include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, and more structured approaches to best help you meet your therapeutic goals. My path to becoming a therapist began one week into college, when I decided to switch my major from studio art to psychology. The motivation to make this drastic change and give psychology a try came from my own intuition and feeling like I had natural qualities of empathy and introspection. This journey of self-discovery deepened my commitment to helping patients identify what a life worth living and feeling of purpose looks like for them. My journey led me to work in a community agency as a therapist, where I found that my patients’ demographics were very different from one another and, as such, deserved their own unique approaches and integrated mix of interventions. Now, I am passionate about bringing that same energy to my practice at SOL Mental Health! Outside of sessions, I like to enjoy a wide range of hobbies, such as painting, hiking, playing the ukulele, and going to live music concerts.

Hi, I’m Donna Deming, LCSW, a clinical social worker in New York offering online therapy state wide . I work with college students and young adults who may be struggling with anxiety, stress, relationship issues, self-esteem, body image concerns, academic pressure, life transitions, loneliness, or feeling overwhelmed. College can be exciting, but it can also feel stressful, isolating, and emotionally exhausting at times. Many students struggle with overthinking, comparison to others, pressure to succeed, family stress, social anxiety, or uncertainty about who they are and where they’re headed in life. My approach is warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental. I want therapy to feel like a safe place where you can talk honestly about what you’re going through while also learning practical ways to cope, manage emotions, and build confidence. Together, we can work on developing healthier coping skills, improving relationships, managing anxiety and stress, strengthening self-worth, and helping you feel more emotionally grounded and supported. Reaching out for help can feel difficult, but you do not have to figure everything out alone.
You might look like you have it together—but when it comes to relationships, things feel confusing, draining, or one-sided. Maybe you keep ending up in the same kind of situationship, ignore red flags, or feel like you lose yourself trying to make things work. I help women break out of these patterns, build real confidence, and learn how to set boundaries without guilt—so you can feel more secure, clear, and in control of your life.
