Life can have its challenging moments, especially during this time of uncertainty and quick changes. Throughout our life we develop methods of coping that, at one time, perhaps helped us to survive, but now prevent us from ultimately thriving. This can manifest in our relationship patterns and our mood which can cause disruption in work, love, family, friendships and a healthy identity. I am here to help support you through these changes as well find new ways to create balance and better manage the stressors influencing your daily life. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, life changes, or processing this past year, I am here to listen. While I am licensed as an art psychotherapist, creating art during session is not required.

Trying to find the right therapist in the middle of exams, papers, and trying to maintain a social life can feel overwhelming. I'm so glad you are here anyway! The most important things in finding a therapist is: 1) Finding someone you feel comfortable with- I work hard to make sessions as relaxed and comfortable as possible. I am approachable and welcoming. 2) Finding a therapist who will help you grow- In addition to providing you with a safe space to talk, I also teach you valuable skills for more effectively managing your emotions, relationships, life and communication skills. I also specialize in working with people who have experienced trauma, and find themselves stuck and unable to move forward with their life. Hope, healing, and growth are always possible. Feel free to email me. I hope to hear from you soon.

A bit more about my approach to therapy: My approach is down-to-earth, encouraging, and guided foremost by the client. The #1 adage leading my practice is “start where the client is”. I listen carefully, reflect for clarity, and help clients to articulate deeper understanding of themselves. Individuals questioning their sexual identity, LGBTQ, and BIPOC clients will be supported and affirmed. Creative types are welcomed: use of creativity is an unlimited source of healing potential. "Begin. The rest is easy." - George Jenkins What you can expect from our first session: Every individual deserves to find a meaningful sense of purpose, direction, and belonging. After our first session together, I hope for you to feel seen, understood, and supported upon a path of increasing possibility; my hope is that you will feel more capable in the moment of managing what life has waiting for you next.

I believe that what brings many people to therapy is a sense of disconnection (from themselves, others, or the world around them). Alongside disconnection, clients may experience depression, anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, job/career concerns, loneliness, anger, body pains, among other symptoms. I’m passionate about working with clients to help them identify, understand, and reconnect with the parts of themselves and their experiences that they disconnected from throughout the years. It is through this work that clients are able to show up more authentically and experience greater meaning and fulfillment in their lives. I work primarily from relational and attachment based frameworks while incorporating complementary modalities, prioritizing client needs/goals. My specialty is working with individuals with relationship concerns, identity exploration, and life transitions. Additionally, I have expertise working with college/graduate students and emerging adults. I wholeheartedly believe that much of the healing and growth process occurs within the context of relationships (whether that be in the relationships with others or with yourself). Therefore, I emphasize the importance of finding a good fit with a therapist and encourage reaching out if you feel we may be a good fit. I look forward to connecting!

Together, we will explore the challenges you experience and build new skills to improve quality of life. I have several years of experience with college/adult populations and student-athletes. I use a Holistic approach for treatment that emphasizes CBT and DBT to increase success when coping with stress. When these skills are built, I favor utilizing IFST to embrace all aspects of who you are and learn how each of those aspects can be used for you to become fullest version of yourself!

Life can get really tough sometimes and I think we all need a place to come and just BE REAL with another person. Vent feelings, share thoughts that one is not really comfortable sharing with close friends and family, just lay it all out however messy. ABOUT ME: I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both California and New York with over 15 years in the field. I got my Masters degree in Integral Counseling Psychology at California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA in 2008. My areas of study was Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction and Creative Arts Therapy. I believe that finding the right match with a therapist is crucial. It’s like dating, you have to keep looking until you find some chemistry, a click, and feel like the person really gets you. I work primarily with individuals and unfortunately am not accepting couples into my practice at this time. I build resilience by teaching skills to manage anxiety, depression, life's ups and downs, be it learning to be kinder to yourself or learning to manage feelings when relationships change. My style of therapy is warm, compassionate, honest, and direct. I welcome your mess. We can sort through the piles together and see if we can't come out with some gold.

I often work with young people struggling to understand who they are and why they do the things they do. This may be felt as a gnawing sense of dissatisfaction or despair, or a more intense experience of feeling lost and out of control. We work together to identify your concerns in a safe environment that emphasizes giving language to emotional experience, identifying unconscious patterns of behavior, and finding meaning in your life.

For many queer, non-binary, and trans people, grief is not always recognized or supported. There is no casserole, no card. This may include family lost after coming out, a faith community that turned away, the loss of a beloved pet, grief related to sexuality or intimacy, or the changes brought by chronic illness. Some may also be carrying grief connected to earlier trauma that was never fully acknowledged. Unrecognized grief can be especially isolating. You may find yourself carrying something real and significant that others have overlooked or questioned. Therapy offers a place where this grief can be tended with care. I offer LGBTQ+ centered grief therapy online in Georgia and New York. Because grief is not a problem to solve, my approach is compassionate, steady, and unhurried. I pay particular attention to relationships and losses that were real, even if others didn’t see them that way. I support clients through losses that often go unrecognized. As a lesbian therapist, I understand what it can mean to grieve without witness. I specialize in losses that go unseen and am especially drawn to supporting LGBTQ+ elders navigating aging, caregiving, and loss. Reaching out can feel vulnerable. If you're looking for a place where your grief can be acknowledged and supported, I am here when you are ready.
