I have been in private practice for twenty years. In that time, I have worked primarily with college and graduate students who are grappling with problems in living - academic, relational, familial, and ontological. I use a combination of techniques, including psychodynamic and mindfulness. My aim is to help people find increased self-acceptance and, simultaneously, to cultivate more energy to change what can be changed in their lives.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about working with people — listening to their stories, understanding their experiences, and helping them find their way through life’s challenges. Becoming a therapist has always been my calling, and it’s truly an honor to walk alongside my clients as they navigate both the struggles and joys of life. My practice offers a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and accepted. I will meet you with compassion and understanding- you don’t have to face life's challenges alone. My approach emphasizes relationship and rapport building, empathy, and compassion. You are the writer of your own story, but together we can work on developing tools tailored to your specific needs. My background includes working with adolescents and adults from various communities and cultures experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, cancer, PTSD, mood disorders, executive dysfunction, or disruption in family and/or relationship dynamics. As a therapist, my goal for my clients is to assist them in achieving their goals based on the strengths they already possess, building upon those strengths, and creating new ways to adapt to different life events and stressful circumstances.
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with five years of experience, my work centers on helping adults navigate anxiety, relationship dynamics, and complex trauma so they can break old cycles, establish healthy boundaries, and reclaim control of their lives. While I have a particular passion for supporting BIPOC individuals and communities, I welcome and celebrate patients of all backgrounds. Anxiety and the weight of difficult relationships can make it hard to see a way forward. Together, we'll work to change that. I believe in the power of collaboration, allowing me to be your active, supportive partner in this process to help you cultivate a stronger sense of peace, self-awareness, and confidence in the life you want to build. Tailoring therapy to the unique individual rather than fitting anyone into a rigid structure is something I feel strongly about, because your healing should reflect who you are, not a one-size-fits-all model. That’s why my approach is eclectic, collaborative, and person-centered from the very beginning. You can always expect a warm, empathetic, and genuinely supportive environment in our sessions. Using humanistic and integrative methods, I work to ensure you feel deeply heard and empowered to make lasting changes. Your unique presenting concerns shape how we work together, and I adapt my style with that in mind every step of the way. Every person who walks through my door deserves a space that feels safe and welcoming, a place to pause, reflect, and explore your thoughts and emotions as you navigate life's ups and downs. Having personally navigated anxiety and depression, I understand in a real and meaningful way what it takes to find balance, resilience, and healing. This lived experience fuels the depth of care and compassion I bring to every session. My Jamaican background further enriches the care I offer, allowing me to connect with Caribbean patients and others from diverse cultural backgrounds in ways that are sensitive, affirming, and grounded in an understanding of your unique story. Movement and nourishment are big parts of how I stay grounded. Whether I'm at Pilates, the gym, discovering a new restaurant, or planning the next trip on my list, I'm most at home when I'm exploring and savoring what life has to offer.

Maybe you expected this chapter of your life to feel exciting or full of possibility, but instead you feel overwhelmed, confused, or like something is “off.” You might be dealing with loss, relationship stress, changes in your body, or worries about the future. You may not even have the words for what you are feeling. You just know you do not feel like yourself. You are not alone, and you do not have to figure this out by yourself. Men need help too. Are you struggling with big transitions in your life? Having difficulty calming intense emotions or just struggling to navigate the day to day? Life can be filled with challenges and disappointments that impact our state of mind, (our brain?), and our capacity to manage everyday tasks. If this is you, I would love to help you learn ways to understand and cope with these big and challenging moments. Therapy is a healing process and together we can process emotions, create small, realistic changes, and help you become more confident in everyday life. My aim is to create a comfortable and accepting environment, and a space for you to feel supported. Throughout this process we will also explore how our brain and mind are impacted by significant events in our lives. This approach will allow us to redefine not only how you view yourself but even the world around you! With the incorporation of mindfulness, meditation, and a person-centered approach we can take this journey together. Please feel free to contact me to schedule a free 15 minute phone consultation or to answer any questions. You are never alone on this journey. I look forward to hearing from you.

Her clinical focus is on the experiences of undergraduate and graduate students coping with depression and/or anxiety as well as with older adults struggling with romantic relationships, grief and loss, trauma, and work-life balance. I'm a clinical psychologist (PhD 1994, U Michigan) with 30 years experience meeting with adolescents, adults from 18-90, and couples. My doctoral research focused on loss and the impact of parental divorce. During my 25 years here I've met with many Cornell students, undergrads and grads. I make use of various approaches (psychodynamic, family systems, cognitive-behavioral), depending on what makes most sense. Family difficulties, romantic relationships, stress of all sorts, procrastination, and being 'stuck' completing academic work are common situations for which I've provided help.
As a school and clinical psychologist, my practice always focuses on the student first. My goal is to understand the issues that are impacting my clients, and to help them find a realistic way to make the situation better. Over the past 20 years I have helped students through school changes, academic difficulty, special education accommodations, general anxiety, managing ADHD, social challenges, and general life stressors. If you are looking for support, feel free to contact me and we can discuss how to get started.
I work with individuals across the adult lifespan. I find great joy serving college students and graduate students, and professionals in academia. I have spent many years working in university counseling centers including University of Iowa, UC Davis, CSUN, Indiana University and Cornell Health. My practice tends to focus on helping clients improve their relationship with self, others and the world around them. Some common themes in my practice are self-discovery; self-compassion; gratitude; boundary setting; clarifying values, needs and wants, and intention; mindset; health and wellness; mindfulness; and finding ways to live more present and fully.
