Therapists for college students near Rice University
Many of the college students I work with are balancing classes, jobs, relationships, and questions about who they are—and that can feel overwhelming. I often help students who are navigating academic stress, identity changes, and family expectations, while also working to feel more confident and handle life’s challenges without burning out. As a Latino and LGBTQ+ therapist, I understand how culture, family, and identity can shape your college experience and sometimes add extra pressure. In our work together, I use proven counseling methods like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help you recognize and shift unhelpful thought patterns, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to give you practical tools for managing emotions and relationships. I create a safe, welcoming space where your whole self is valued, and where you can explore who you are, challenge old beliefs, and build skills to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

I integrate evidence-based techniques with a person-centered approach, empowering clients to explore their strengths, overcome challenges, and achieve personal growth. You aren't broken or damaged, you're a hero who needs help on their quest. I specialize in working with teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, grief, chronic pain, and performance challenges. I help by integrating EMDR, Internal Family Systems, narrative, and strength-based therapies into a collaborative roadmap. In our first sessions, you can expect a thorough assessment, introduction to trauma-focused techniques like EMDR, and co-creation of a safe, strengths-focused environment. My practice is unique because I frame therapy as your hero’s journey, empowering you to harness resilience with evidence-based interventions. I’m Chad Starrak, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Questline Counseling. I specialize in trauma-informed therapy and EMDR, helping clients navigate anxiety, life transitions, burnout, and unresolved trauma. Whether you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, therapy offers a space to rediscover your inner clarity and direction. Each session opens a doorway—an invitation to journey inward, where forgotten truths and hidden strength reside. This isn’t a path to fix what’s broken, but to remember what’s sacred. Together, we’ll listen beneath the surface and follow the threads that lead you home to yourself.
It’s normal to experience feelings of fear, loneliness, and sadness as we navigate life’s challenges. Acknowledging the need for support is both brave and deeply human. I work with individuals and couples, and I’m particularly passionate about working with college-aged adults, young professionals, and couples preparing for marriage. Trauma, Relationships, and Family Patterns — Helping You Build Healthier Connections If you’re feeling overwhelmed by past experiences, stuck in relationship patterns, or struggling with communication and connection, you’re not alone. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating trauma, family-of-origin challenges, communication difficulties, cultural differences, and life transitions—and who are ready to better understand themselves and create meaningful change. As a practicum therapist in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Abilene Christian University, I am supervised by Julia Wesley, LMFT-S, and provide therapy in the Frisco and Prosper areas. In our work together, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we focus on understanding patterns—how you communicate, how your family-of-origin experiences shape your relationships, and how past experiences may still be impacting you today. I help clients build stronger communication skills, navigate conflict more effectively, and develop healthier, more fulfilling relationships. I am especially passionate about working with those impacted by trauma and helping clients make sense of how their past connects to their present. My approach is grounded in family systems and relational therapy, meaning we look at how your relationships, environment, and experiences all interact. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to understand the bigger picture and create lasting change in the patterns that matter most to you. I strive to provide a culturally sensitive and inclusive space, and I am committed to supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, including those within the LGBTQ+ community. Before entering the therapy field, I worked in leadership and people management, where I developed strong skills in communication, conflict resolution, and supporting individuals through challenges. I bring that real-world experience into the therapy room to help clients apply practical tools in their daily lives. I am also passionate about supporting diverse and underserved communities. My work as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Ambassador and ADHD advocate reflects my commitment to creating an inclusive, culturally aware space where clients feel seen, respected, and understood. Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to begin your healing journey or want to see if we’re a good fit, I invite you to connect.

Entering adulthood isn't quite like you expected it to be. Yeah, you get more freedom, but you also get the added responsibility of being "the" adult. You find yourself more anxious and experiencing these different emotions that leave you feeling burdened and overwhelmed. You've tried several ways to cope, but those only offered a temporary solution. And if we're honest, they weren't the healthiest ways to cope. Managing your day-to-day life has become even more difficult, and you realize you can't go on like this much longer. As a marriage and family therapist- associate, I am skilled at helping individuals and couples live a healthy and more sustainable life. I fully understand the challenges that come with college life and am here to help. Through our time together, you’ll learn healthy and effective skills to cope, identify how to name and manage troubling emotions, replace irrational thoughts with realistic and empowering ones, and engage more positively with those around you. College years don't t have to be something that you heal from as an adult. I can help you find balance and healing now.

Knowing from an early age that I wanted to connect with people on a deeper level, a career in counseling became a must. I was born and grew up in Belgium and moved to the states as a pre-teen, which was a tough transition at times. I quickly discovered my love for connecting with others was no different on the other side of the world. This strengthened my belief that cultural background, race, sex, age, etc does not make a difference in our suffering but that there is hope for each one of us. Knowing from an early age that I wanted to connect with people on a deeper level, a career in counseling became a must. I quickly discovered my love for connecting with others was no different on the other side of the world. This strengthened my belief that cultural background, race, sex, age, etc does not make a difference in our suffering but that there is hope for each one of us. It is my belief that the difficulties that we face stem from our inner dialogue and extreme responses in acknowledgment to triggering situations. It is my goal to help the client explore such thoughts and reactions by developing coping skills and new ways of thinking in order for the client to feel more at ease and happier in life. I previously had the privilege of leading groups for those suffering from alcohol and drug addiction, as well as emotional dysregulation issues, and have discovered an appreciation for walking through such a challenging time with the client. It is my hope to do the same for you.
