Therapists for college students near Denver, CO
Feeling lost, overwhelmed, or like something's just not quite right? You're not alone. Life's journey is rarely smooth; we all experience setbacks, heartbreak, and moments where we feel fractured. At Kintsugi Systems Counseling, we offer a unique and compassionate approach to healing, drawing on the wisdom of Kintsugi, IFS, and Stoicism. Imagine a therapy that doesn't focus on fixing what's broken, but celebrates the beauty of your scars, transforming your challenges into strengths. We believe in your inherent resilience and capacity for growth. Our skilled counselors will walk alongside you, helping you understand and harmonize the different parts of yourself, navigate life's difficulties with greater ease, and discover the gold within your own unique story. My Background and Approach My approach to mental health is holistic and integrative, drawing upon a multi-dimensional understanding of the mind-body connection. I recognize that trauma and past experiences are deeply embedded in both our physical and emotional selves; the body, indeed, "keeps the score." Therefore, my therapeutic work focuses on fostering a harmonious relationship between mind and body, equipping you with the tools to cultivate self-awareness and manage internal dialogue effectively. This process involves not only addressing past hurts but also embracing your unique strengths and vulnerabilities, fostering radical self-acceptance as a cornerstone of healing and personal growth. Finally, I believe in the power of self-compassion and nurturing, helping you develop the capacity for self-care and meet your needs with greater understanding and empathy. My goal is to empower you to shed limiting patterns, embrace your authentic self, and live a more vibrant and fulfilling life.

Many of the clients I work best with are young adults navigating major transitions — starting college, adjusting to new expectations, exploring identity, building relationships, or trying to figure out what comes next. I previously worked at CU Boulder supporting students through the Early Intervention Program and Collegiate Recovery Community, and I understand many of the unique challenges that come with this stage of life. My approach combines traditional therapy with mindfulness and body awareness to help you better understand yourself, manage stress and anxiety, and build a stronger connection with your thoughts, emotions, and needs. Many people come to therapy understanding why they feel stuck but still struggling to create lasting change. Together, we’ll slow down, explore what is happening beneath the surface, and develop greater self-compassion, flexibility, and choice. If you're feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in old patterns, or simply wanting to better understand yourself, I’d be honored to support you. A free 20-minute consultation is an opportunity to see if working together feels like the right fit.
Hello and welcome! I am a licensed marriage & family therapist. I worked with clients in the La Jolla/San Diego area for many years before moving across the country to Florida. I currently serve California, Colorado, and Florida-based clients via secure video counseling. I work with individuals, couples, and families to help each person resolve problems, to create more satisfying relationships, and to live more fulfilling and meaningful lives. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, couples conflict, substance abuse, eating disorders, chronic illness, and pre-marital issues, but I also have experience helping people through a wide range of other problems that may be bothering them (please see "Services Provided" for more detailed information). My approach is mostly collaborative - I believe that my clients should have options when choosing what type of therapy treatment they feel is best for them. I also, when appropriate, will work closely with a client's healthcare providers as part of the treatment. This way, my clients have additional support as we work through challenges. I absolutely love working as a therapist! Nothing gives me more satisfaction than saving a marriage, increasing the bonds of love between family members, or helping someone overcome an addictive pattern and find new meaning in their life. Please contact me to set up your first appointment.
Sierra is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate with a Master’s degree from Winona State University in Minnesota. Sierra offers a space where people can feel safe, heard, apart of a collaborative therapeutic partnership, and supported in their goals/aspirations. Sierra has experience supporting adults (18+) that may be experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief/loss, life transitions (big or small), substance use, identity/gender-identity, or trauma. Sierra wants her clients to know that they don’t have to know exactly what they need/want to get started- but she would be more than happy to support them in navigating their healing journey. Some developing techniques/approaches that Sierra may utilize include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Level 1 Gottman Method for Couple's Therapy, EMDR, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and motivational interviewing. In her free time- she enjoys reading, hiking, spending time with her pets, crocheting, and watching comfort shows.
I specialize in working with young adults and helping them navigate these tough and challenging years. I have a holistic approach to psychiatry and am flexible to meet people’s individual needs. Anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and depression are my areas of expertise but I treat everything.
Hey! My name is Elena, I use she/her pronouns, and I work with rebels, rioters, and revolutionaries. My practice is one that centers and celebrates authenticity, courageous exploration, and a collaborative, therapeutic relationship. In practice, this can look like taking the time to build trust and connection, pulling from a wide variety of modalities, and curiosity and silliness when needed (which I believe is often!) I have seen many therapists feel the need to rush into “fixing”; in my work, there is no rush and there is no “fixing”. Together, we will sit in the messy experience of being human; exploring and learning from our pain while uplifting and celebrating the joys. We will co-create your therapy experience, making it into whatever you need it to be in order to feel as safe as possible. I bring an anti-oppression and decolonization lens to the work of therapy, as this helps to ensure that I do my best to mitigate the harmful impacts of these systemic issues in the healing space. I will certainly make mistakes. I hope you do, too! These are opportunities for both of us to practice collective learning, unlearning, and healing. I believe that therapy is community. We may share certain identities and there will be those we do not share, yet it remains a community. Let's be in joyous community together!
Licensed as a Professional Counselor, I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups. Graduating in 1998 from the University of Colorado, I received a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Studies. I have completed PACT 3 training and EMDR 2 training. I have served as the professional consultant for the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance for the Longmont/Firestone Chapter. My experience includes working with clients in multiple settings including psychiatric hospitals, public schools, mental health agencies, therapeutic day schools, and residential treatment facilities. Spanning more than 20 years, my therapy practice has evolved to include particular therapeutic theories and techniques that are not only effective in improving the lives of my clients but that also speak to my personal interests and values. In my therapy practice I work with individuals, couples and families facing many life challenges, including mood disorders, anxiety, personality disorders and trauma. My therapeutic approach is predicated on the knowledge that each of us has a family of origin and series of life events that deeply impact the way we function in our current work, family and love relationships. Understanding the "why" of a particular struggle can promote self-understanding, compassion and acceptance, and facilitate healing. Specially trained and certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and having utilized it in practice for almost twenty years, I've had the privilege of aiding in the recovery of clients who have endured extreme emotional trauma such as abuse, neglect, combat, death of a loved one and unexpected loss. Utilizing EMDR has had a profound effect on me as I have repeatedly witnessed the relief of suffering and ultimate liberation from the lasting effects of trauma. In couples therapy, I am trained in PACT (Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy), which integrates neuroscience, attachment theory and arousal regulation to help explain the ways in which couples relate to one another. The goal of this model is to establish a secure functioning system for the partnership. When not in my office I spend time in our beautiful Colorado with my loving husband of over two decades and my three wonderful children. My family, friends, nature, travel and yoga practice are essential elements of my own personal strength and growth.

We are a collective of body- and mindfulness-based coaches and therapists. We offer body-based contemplative counseling, specifically focused on the nervous system; here-and-now awareness; and relationships to ourselves, others, and the natural world, to unwind old patterns from the bottom up, leading to more energy, empowerment, and intimacy. We each have our own specialties (such as PTSD treatment, imaginal work, couples therapy, etc.), yet we share a passion for helping you explore your inner world; integrate difficult experiences; and feel more healthy, whole, and nourished. Everyone needs support to deepen into our own experience, find regulation and groundedness, and open to showing up as more of ourselves in the world, with the strength and freedom to offer our gifts. We would love to accompany you on your journey!
Healing is deeply personal, and having the right support can make all the difference. As a licensed therapist with three years of experience, I’m dedicated to helping people across the lifespan navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, relationship challenges, and the emotional weight that can accumulate over time. Whether you're working through a painful experience, building more confidence in yourself, or simply looking for steadier ground, you'll find a space here that is empathetic, honest, and completely free of judgment. Therapy works best when it feels like a genuine human connection grounded in compassion and respect, and that's exactly what you can expect with me. My goal is to be a steady, supportive presence you feel genuinely comfortable with as you work toward healing, confidence, and personal growth that feel meaningful and lasting. Together, we'll create a supportive, down-to-earth space where you feel heard, understood, and never judged. My approach is warm, collaborative, and flexible, ensuring your healing environment is always tailored to your unique needs, goals, and lived experience. Drawing on evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR, we'll build healthy coping skills, process difficult experiences, and support your overall emotional well-being to create positive change. Trauma-informed care is central to how I work, and empowering you throughout your healing journey is something I am genuinely passionate about. You set the direction; I'll help you find the way forward. My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own experience in therapy and the profound impact of having people truly in my corner during some of the most difficult seasons of my life. Those relationships stayed with me, and they continue to shape how I show up for every person I work with. This foundation deepened my commitment to care that is compassionate, trauma-informed, and centered on each person’s experience. In every session, I bring empathy, honesty, and genuine respect for the process, with the intention of creating a space where you feel safe enough to be real, supported as you are, and encouraged in your own healing. Outside of the therapy room, I find restoration in nature, whether that's going for walks, hiking, biking, or simply being outdoors to unplug and reset. Traveling and exploring new places brings me a lot of joy, as does unhurried time with family and friends. When I'm winding down at the end of the day, you'll likely find me working on a puzzle while listening to a podcast, a simple combination that helps me slow down and recharge.

College can be one of the most exciting times in your life—but it can also feel overwhelming. Between academic pressure, social expectations, and figuring out what comes next, it’s easy to feel stressed, anxious, or stuck. Many students struggle with motivation, organization, or balancing everything on their plate. For over 20 years, I’ve worked with young adults and college students to better understand these challenges and build practical, real-world strategies that create lasting change. My work focuses on helping you: Manage anxiety, stress, and emotional ups and downs Strengthen executive functioning skills like time management, organization, and follow-through Build healthier relationships and improve communication Navigate academic challenges and learning differences Grow confidence, resilience, and independence I offer therapy, psychoeducational assessment, and academic support to help you succeed—both in school and in your day-to-day life. You and your life isn’t one note. You are multifaceted and the demands you face happen to be as well – particularly when you are a student. Currently, the sound-track of your life has moved away from the sounds of a harmonious symphony -or maybe from an upbeat pop song- to something more unnerving and stressful (like the alarm you use to wake up to in the morning or the background music in a horror film—building tension, bracing yourself from some known or unknown threat). It makes sense that life has been overwhelming -increased responsibilities and life demands alone would contribute to this feeling. Add fears about the future, a recent breakup, challenging relationship dynamics with family, and/or other stressors and you might find yourself tipping the scales of your emotional bandwidth. I help students focus on the unique aspects of their lives that are no longer serving them – with empathy, tools, problem-solving, and emotional healing and growth. I believe you can have a richer and higher-quality of life– free from the overwhelming influence of your current life demands, harmful past experiences, poor modeling, and environmental toxicities (psychological). I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in trauma-informed care, crisis stabilization, and supportive interventions for individuals navigating mental health and substance use challenges. Whether you’re facing a moment of crisis or working through the longer road of recovery, I am here to walk alongside you. My work is rooted in crisis response, de-escalation, and community-based behavioral health care. I believe that everyone deserves compassionate, accessible support during life's most difficult moments, and am committed to being a steady, grounded presence when you need it most. My goal is to help you find stability, safety, and a clear path toward ongoing care. When we work together, you can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space where you feel genuinely heard and supported. I draw on person-centered and strengths-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), to help you build insight, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. My style is collaborative and adaptive, meeting you where you are and tailoring care to your unique experiences, goals, and the pace that feels right for you. Above all, I am passionate about helping you access the support and stability you deserve. My path to becoming a therapist grew from a deep calling to support people through high-stress and vulnerable moments in their lives. That calling shaped not only the work I chose, but how I show up for it every day. Each experience along the way deepened my commitment to providing care that is both accessible and compassionate, particularly for those who need it most. In my practice now, I bring a grounded, empathetic presence to every session, and am honored to be a part of your journey toward healing. When I’m not working, I cherish time with the people who matter most to me, especially my daughter, family, and friends. I also enjoy getting outside, watching movies, and finding small, everyday moments to slow down and recharge. These moments of connection and rest are what keep me present and energized for the work I love.
