At Oconee Counseling, I specialize in working with college students who are navigating big transitions, anxiety, identity questions, and career uncertainty. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just unsure of who you’re becoming, I offer a space to slow down, sort things out, and start making sense of what matters most. My counseling style is warm, collaborative, and tailored to you. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy—because you’re not a one-size-fits-all person. I’ll help you explore your strengths, your story, and your next steps in a way that feels grounding and real. If you’re someone who thinks deeply, wants to grow, and could use some support figuring out your path, we might be a great fit.

I believe that mental health is a journey of piecing together multiple working parts, and I hope to be a part of that process with you. About Me I hold a PhD in Social Work and I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving the states of Georgia and Maryland. I received my PhD from the University of Alabama, my MSW from the University of Georgia, and BA from The University of Alabama. I have multiple years of clinical experience among various populations (children, teens, families, and young adults), various backgrounds, and in numerous settings (residential, inpatient, outpatient, private practice). I primarily work with ages 6-25. I also currently hold an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Social Work. I am someone with whom people generally feel at ease and comfortable, which is an important part of what makes therapy work. My initial goal within the therapeutic relationship is to provide you with just that: a positive, safe, and comfortable place, where you feel at ease to talk about things that matter to you. Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my pets, finding challenging hikes, cooking/baking, going to the beach/finding water, gardening, exploring the city, and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy picking up new creative projects and DIYs! Who I Help & What I Help With Who I Can Help Children (6-12) Teens (13-17) Emerging & Young Adults (18-29) Adult Couples What I Can Help With Relationship issues or losing a relationship Adjusting to and navigating life transitions Improving unhealthy/disruptive habits and behaviors Feeling sad or depressed Trauma and loss Feeling overwhelmed or anxious Feeling alone or disconnected from others Experiencing stress at work, school, or home Conflict resolution Learning to value and love yourself My Approach Types of Therapies It’s not uncommon for someone to enter therapy a bit nervous and with no clear sense of where to start – they simply want things to change for the better and to feel like themselves again. You are the expert of your own experience, but it’s easy to lose your way and feel lost when in distress. I will meet you wherever you are and help you piece things back to a sense of what normal feels like for you. The best approach is one that works for you, so I may draw on several different approaches to therapy, all of which have been shown by research to help individuals reduce stress, gain clarity, and make changes in their lives. They include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Person-Centered Therapy Narrative Therapy Culturally Sensitive Therapy Services & Payment At this time, all sessions will be remote/virtual and take place through a fully HIPAA compliant platform called SimplePractice. You may choose the mode with which you are most comfortable (i.e., video, phone). This is a great option for accessibility and flexibility, but please be sure to first, consider whether this is the most appropriate option for you at this time. How to Get Started *Ready to get started? Just head to the “Contact Me” tab or the “book appointment” link at the bottom of every page of this website. You can schedule your first appointment on your own and whenever you’re ready with no initial contact required. Please note that I am committed to your privacy. Therefore, please do not include confidential or private information if you choose to email or call. Further and more detailed information will be exchanged through a fully HIPAA compliant platform called SimplePractice. I look forward to speaking with you! Types of Sessions Visits with me typically involve the following types of sessions: Intake Session: Assessment & Planning (60 minutes, Accepts Insurance, Private Pay Rate: $200) It’s important to feel comfortable with your therapist. For this reason, the first session serves to help you and me decide whether the therapeutic relationship will be the best fit. The intake is also an Assessment and Planning phase, which is focused on learning more in depth about you, your history, and what brings you to therapy. This phase also allows me to begin putting together a plan for future sessions if you are comfortable with moving forward. All follow up sessions after the initial intake session will be considered a regular therapy session. Regular Individual Therapy Session (30-60 minutes, Accepts Insurance, Private Pay Rate: $90-$180) Following the Assessment and Planning phase, we’ll decide when and how often to meet. Session time frames depend on your treatment needs and personal circumstances and are guided by the plan we develop together. Please note that 30-minute sessions are private pay only. These sessions may work well for children and adolescents, day-to-day check-ins, more solution-focused sessions, quicker access to therapy, etc. Regular Family Therapy Session With Client (30 minutes; Child & Adolescent Only, $108, Private Pay Only) When needed, family sessions provide an opportunity to strengthen communication, address relational dynamics, and support your child or adolescent's progress in treatment. These sessions may include parents/guardians, caregivers, and/or siblings depending on the goals we establish together. Please note that all family sessions of any length are private pay only. Brief Family Therapy Session Without Client (15 minutes; Child & Adolescent Only, $54, Private Pay Only) These brief check-ins offer a dedicated space for parents and caregivers to share observations, ask questions, and stay connected to their child's therapeutic progress without the client present. They are not a replacement for regular family sessions but rather, serve as a lightweight touchpoint between sessions when needed. Please note that all family sessions of any length are private pay only. Couples Therapy Session (60 minutes; $216, Private Pay Only) Couples therapy sessions provide a structured space to address relational concerns, improve communication, and work toward shared goals within the relationship. These sessions are designed to support both partners in understanding relational patterns, navigating conflict more effectively, and building a stronger foundation for daily functioning together. Please note that all couples therapy sessions of any length are private pay only. Payment Options In-Network Insurance & Third-Party Payers I currently accept the following insurance plans in Georgia: Aetna Cigna/Evernorth United Healthcare/UBH/Optum Medicare & Medicare Advantage Plans I currently accept the following insurance plans in Maryland: Aetna Cigna/Evernorth United Healthcare/UBH/Optum Medicaid/Carelon Behavioral Health Medicare & Medicare Advantage Plans This means that if you are enrolled in any of these plans (or potentially any of their subsidiaries), your out-of-pocket expense is limited to your deductible and copay/coinsurance. While I can assist in determining what these costs will be, it may be helpful to ask your insurance provider the following questions prior to your intake session: 1. What is my deductible and how much is remaining? 2. What percentage of payments for outpatient mental health services does my plan cover after the deductible is met? *I am currently working to become a provider in network with Anthem as well as any applicable subsidiaries under Anthem in the state of Georgia. I am also currently working to become a provider in network with CareFirst as well as any applicable subsidiaries under CareFirst in the state of Maryland. Private Pay & Out-of-Network Reimbursement I also accept private pay, and if you have another insurance provider, you may also have out-of-network benefits. With this option, your insurance benefits may reimburse the majority of the cost of therapy. With both private pay and out-of-network reimbursement, you will be provided with automatic invoices, statements, and superbills for any needed reimbursements later from your insurance provider. I recommend calling your insurance provider to learn more about how reimbursement works. It may be helpful to ask your provider the following questions prior to your intake session: 1. Does my plan provide out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health services? 2. What is my deductible and how much is remaining? 3. What percentage of payments for outpatient mental health services does my plan cover after the deductible is met? *Lack of insurance coverage, privacy concerns, flexibility, and quicker access to care are only a few of the reasons why one might choose this option. Cancellation Policy All clients are required to have an active credit/debit card on file at the time of scheduling an appointment. For appointment no-shows, last-minute cancellations, or inactive insurance, you will be charged in full regardless of reason. This is necessary, as a time commitment is made and held exclusively for you. You may still apply this fee to future appointments. Contact Me Ready to get started? Just head to the “Contact Me” tab or the “book appointment” link at the bottom of every page of my website. You can schedule your first appointment on your own and whenever you’re ready with no initial contact required. Please note that I am committed to your privacy. I am a clinical social worker who provides individual therapy for adults. As a therapist my role is to provide a non-judgmental, safe environment for individuals to explore their life issues and support them in their personal growth. I find that a lot of us struggle with listening to our inner critic and often beat ourselves up for past regrets, as well as spending a lot of valuable time worrying about the past and the "what if's" in the future. I hope we can work together to quiet this critic and find a way to enjoy the present. My experience includes working with individuals in therapy addressing relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and assertiveness skills. I also work with individuals dealing with adjustments to major life changes, including adjusting to college. I also have experience working with individuals who identify as LGBTQ. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy in practice, but may also utilize other treatment approaches as appropriate for each individual. I encourage self-care and self-nurturing activities to support therapy. Contact me today to get started on this journey together. I can also provide ESA letters if appropriate for housing needs.

Life is happening to us all, and learning how to adjust to our everyday life is work we all have to do. Let me be your guide! Our time together is spent engaging in conversation with you, educating you on tools and techniques to help you achieve your personal goals, and empowering you to do the necessary work for your growth. I prioritize the unique experience and perspectives of each client. By creating a safe and supportive environment, we take a solution-focused approach which can be effective for many individuals, as it emphasizes finding a practical solution and setting achievable goals rather than solely delving into past issues. Life can present challenges that feel overwhelming, and it's completely normal to seek support during difficult times. I understand that taking the first step toward therapy can be daunting, but please know that you are not alone. I look forward to being your guide, helping you navigate your journey toward healing and growth.

I’m Ellen Burt Baker, LPC, and I’ve been honored to walk alongside individuals on their healing journeys for over 25 years. My practice offers a heart-centered, safe, and compassionate space where you can explore, heal, and grow exactly as you are. My approach to therapy is heart-centered, intuitive, and grounded in both clinical skill and body-brain healing modalities. I integrate powerful techniques such as Brainspotting, EMDR, EFT/Tapping, Hypnotherapy, and IADC® to support deep transformation. When requested, I also incorporate heart-centered practices to support your process holistically. I work with a variety of clients - those healing from trauma, managing anxiety or depression, navigating life decisions or transitions, or exploring their spiritual path. Many of my clients are reconnecting with their own intuition and inner wisdom, and I consider it a privilege to support that journey. I specialize in working with people who have already done some therapeutic work and are ready to go deeper—to move through the blocks and barriers that may still be holding them back. I meet each client exactly where they are. Our work together is a true partnership. I offer a space that is affirming and always welcoming. I bring warmth, humor, and a supportive presence into every session, helping clients feel seen, heard, and empowered.

Hi there! My name is Kennedy Inman, APC, and I work for Creative Center for Wellness in Athens, GA. I work with a lot of different people on a lot of different things. My favorite kind of people are complex and messy! I use various pop culture metaphors and humor in my sessions, and believe that we don't have to be defined by what has happened to us, but what we choose to become moving forward. I use therapy modalities like Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which uses eye movements and narration to enable cognitive reprocessing. I also utilize psychoeducation to help teach and develop coping skills, emotional regulation skills, communication skills, etc. My goal as a counselor is to help you live the life you want to live safely, healthily, and in your own voice.

My approach is collaborative, practical, and grounded in evidence-based treatment. I primarily draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed techniques. I believe therapy should be an active, empowering process that helps you develop insight and tools that actually work in your daily life. My style is warm, straightforward, and curious. I want you to feel both supported and understood as we work together toward your goals. My Experience I’m a licensed psychologist who provides therapy (ages 12+) and psychological assessment for adolescents and adults. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, mood disorders, OCD, identity and relationship concerns, and life transitions. I also have experience supporting clients in recovery from substance use and those within the LGBTQ+ community. Whether through therapy or testing, I strive to help clients gain clarity, confidence, and direction. My Education I earned my Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree from Marshall University. I completed my predoctoral internship at Valley Health in Huntington, West Virginia, and my postdoctoral training at Marshall Psychiatry/Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. What to Expect from Me I bring a warm, authentic, and collaborative style to therapy. You can expect a space that balances compassion with curiosity—where you’ll feel heard and supported, but also challenged in ways that promote growth and insight. Together, we’ll identify what’s getting in the way of your goals and develop strategies that fit your life and values. I offer both in-person and telehealth sessions to make therapy accessible and flexible for your needs. Whether you’re seeking therapy, assessment, or consultation, I look forward to partnering with you on your path toward greater understanding and well-being.

Many of the students I work with are navigating intense pressure academically, socially, and internally. You might be experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or difficulty managing stress. You may also be carrying unresolved trauma or struggling with identity, grief, or emotional regulation. Therapy offers a structured, supportive space to explore what’s contributing to these patterns and begin building healthier ways of coping. My approach integrates evidence-based treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-informed care. We’ll focus on helping you better understand your thoughts and emotions, strengthen your coping skills, and create lasting change that supports your well-being. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. Therapy can be the starting point for greater clarity, connection, and self-trust.

Life can often feel messy and chaotic. My passion is to help bring order out of chaos to facilitate growth and peace. Many of my clients present with concerns related to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stressful life transitions and circumstances, or they report feeling a little “off” and are seeking help to feel more like themselves again. I work best with clients who are engaged and motivated to see changes in their lives, and I have a great love for coming alongside people to help them move towards becoming the best version of themselves. My goal is shalom, the Hebrew word for peace, wholeness and universal flourishing. Wherever you have been, however you have arrived, I’m glad you are here. To me, therapy is about taking time and space to listen to our bodies and emotions, with the hope of allowing us to reconnect with our inherent wisdom. We don't lose touch with this wisdom by accident. Trauma, unhealed wounds, and oppression separate us from our wisdom and intuition, and impact our ability to access all parts of ourselves. You and your body carry so much, from the grief and resilience of those who came before you, to the stress of everyday life. You were never meant to carry it all on your own. I approach therapy from a relational and attachment-based framework, with strong influences from intersectional feminism, trauma-informed care and somatic practices. I also believe that our individual health can't be disentangled from our collective wellbeing and therapy is only one of many paths towards healing.
