I specialize in working with college women who are navigating the ups and downs of emerging adulthood such as balancing academics, friendships, family expectations, and the pressures of figuring out who you are and what comes next. For many of my clients, this stage of life feels exciting and overwhelming all at once, and therapy becomes a place to sort through those emotions and find steady ground. In our work together, I focus on creating a safe, supportive space where you can be open and real. My approach is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I’m here to help you untangle what feels heavy, discover coping tools that actually work for you, and build confidence in your ability to manage challenges. I know that college life often brings unique stressors. Together, we’ll work on building resilience, improving emotional regulation, and finding clarity so you can move forward with more peace and confidence. If you’re feeling stretched thin, second guessing yourself, or just tired of pretending everything is fine, you don’t have to carry it alone. Therapy can be the space where you start to feel grounded, supported, and reminded of your own strength!

Hi, I’m Deidra Mays, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 30 years of experience helping people work through challenges and find personal growth. I specialize in supporting students and young adults with anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationships, and trauma, offering a compassionate and practical space to process, heal, and build confidence. What I love most about being a therapist is watching people discover their strengths and realize they’re capable of more than they thought. I especially enjoy working with students who feel weighed down by stress, anxiety, or depression, and helping them find tools to feel more balanced, hopeful, and empowered. One of the values I always share is “progress, not perfection.” College can feel like a constant pressure to perform, but growth isn’t about getting everything right. It’s about taking small, steady steps and giving yourself credit along the way. My role is to listen, encourage, and walk alongside you as you navigate both the challenges and opportunities that come with this stage of life. If you’d like to schedule with me, just fill out the Get Started form on the WellQor website or email gethelp@wellqor.com, and someone from our front office will reach out to guide you through the next steps.

Through WellQor, I provide online therapy for college students and young adults, and WellQor accepts most major insurance plans to help make care more accessible. My work focuses on helping people better understand themselves and the relationships that shape their lives. Together, we can explore patterns that may be contributing to conflict, self-doubt, communication challenges, or feelings of being stuck. The students who tend to connect best with me are often thoughtful, caring people who spend a lot of time focusing on others. They may be trying to meet family expectations, maintain friendships, succeed academically, or keep everyone around them happy while quietly struggling themselves. Over time, this can lead to feeling disconnected from who they are, what they need, and what they want for their future. I believe that growth often begins with understanding. When we gain insight into our relationships, our experiences, and the roles we've learned to play, it becomes easier to make intentional choices and create healthier connections. Whether you're navigating family dynamics, relationship stress, low self-esteem, or a major life transition, therapy can be a place to reconnect with yourself and build the kind of life and relationships that feel meaningful to you.

Do you find yourself constantly second-guessing what you said, worrying about what others think, or feeling stuck in a cycle of overthinking? Or maybe your childhood seemed normal, yet deep down something still feels off? You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or carrying the effects of past experiences that still shape your present. You want to feel safer in your body, more grounded in your emotions, and more connected to yourself and others. I work with adults who are ready for meaningful change and want a therapist who brings warmth, clarity, and evidence-based tools to support deep, sustainable healing. With training in EMDR, CBT, DBT, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, I blend evidence-based tools with a deeply client-centered approach. My goal is to help you understand your patterns, regulate your emotions, & reconnect with the strengths you may have lost sight of so you can feel more grounded, empowered, & more like yourself. You might be stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. You might be working really hard to break free from old coping strategies that once helped you survive. Together, we can work to build safety, clarity, and confidence moving forward. I know how hard it is to break out of those patterns.

My clinical practice is grounded in an emotion-focused framework that emphasizes collaboration, autonomy, empathy, relationship-building, and cultural humility. I view the therapeutic relationship as dynamic and relational. We grow and change together in the process. Authenticity is central to my work. I approach therapy as a whole person. I carry my identities, personality, and lived experiences with me. I believe that, when I show up fully, it creates space for you to do the same. My goal is to offer you an emotionally safe environment where you can show up with all parts of yourself - your identities, feelings, stories, strengths, and struggles - without fear of judgment. I want you to feel deeply seen, heard, and valued for the whole person that you are. My approach is trauma-centered and am queer, CNM, and polyamory affirming. I am a World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) certified provider.

Hi, I’m Aaliya. I work with college students who are navigating the many transitions that come with this season of life, whether that means adjusting to campus life, figuring out who you are, managing academic pressure, or trying to balance relationships, family expectations, and your own needs. The students I connect with best are often those who are thoughtful, driven, and trying their best, but may feel overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or unsure of what comes next. You might be the person who looks like you have it together while quietly struggling behind the scenes. You may be learning how to set boundaries, build confidence, understand yourself better, or make sense of experiences that have shaped you. In therapy, we will create a space where you can show up as your full self without judgment. Together, we can explore what is weighing on you, identify what you need, and build tools to help you navigate college and life with more clarity, confidence, and self-trust. If you are looking for a therapist who will listen, collaborate with you, and support you through this chapter, I would love to connect.

College is often one of the most exciting and overwhelming times of life Many of the students I work with are navigating major transitions while trying to keep up with classes, relationships, work, family expectations, and the pressure to have it all figured out. Sometimes the challenges are obvious: Academic stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, breakups, family conflict, grief, or adjusting to college life. Sometimes they're more personal: Questioning your identity, sexuality, faith, values, or future career path. Feeling disconnected from yourself or unsure of who you're becoming. Managing ADHD, autism, perfectionism, burnout, or people-pleasing. Trying to balance independence while still navigating family expectations. Feeling overwhelmed by the constant pressure to perform, achieve, and keep going. And sometimes it's simply realizing that the strategies that helped you get this far aren't working anymore. I believe you don't need fixing to deserve support. I think of myself as a life midwife: steady, grounded, and honest while something new is trying to emerge. My role isn't to tell you who to be or how to live your life. It's to help you make sense of where you are, reconnect with your strengths, and navigate the uncertainty that often comes with growth and change. If any of this resonates with you, you may be in a season of becoming. And you don't have to move through it alone.

Hi, I'm Hadiya, and I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine conversation, one where you can show up as you are without judgment or pressure to have it all figured out. I work with folx 18+ navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, identity exploration, and relationship challenges. My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and insight-driven, helping clients understand patterns, build practical coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change. Whether you're adjusting to college, managing stress, or feeling stuck, my goal is to provide a space where you feel heard, challenged, and supported. Sometimes the first step forward is simply starting the conversation.

I’m Kara, a therapist with over a decade of experience working with substance use disorders and mental health. I am passionate about working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, body image, people pleasing,* codependency,* and individuals who are questioning their relationship with alcohol and other mind-altering subtances. From my perspective, therapy is just as much of an art as it is a science. I lean into both in my practice as I work to support you in beginning to live a full, contented, and joyful life. It is a privilege to be entrusted with your story, and an honor to do this work. Having invested in my own therapeutic process over the years, I know firsthand how tough it can be to reach out to a therapist. However, I also know how deeply rewarding and life-changing it is to engage with a supportive, compassionate therapist. I approach therapy with a foundation of gratitude and curiosity. In my practice, I provide a safe space where clients can gain clarity, connect with inner knowing, and begin living authentically from the inside out. I aim to empower clients to find what feels honest, true, and joyful for them. *A note on language: I use terms like people pleasing and codependency because they’re widely understood and searchable. However, I see these as patterns that have been adaptive, and often brilliant, survival skills, not character flaws.

Great to meet you! Welcome to Ascend!! "If you can't fly, run. If you can't run, walk. If you can't walk, crawl, but by all means, keep moving." This quote from Martin Luther King, Jr. captures how I approach therapy and life. I'm Charles Smith, a Licensed Professional Counselor and owner of Ascend Counseling & Therapy Services. I work with students, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, anger management, depression, low self-esteem, substance use and abuse, communication challenges, conflict resolution, career concerns, cultural identity, relationship concerns, and men's issues. I have a diverse background working with multicultural populations. I bring this depth of expertise into every session. I have worked with students, adults and families for almost 30 years as a therapist, school-based counselor and social worker. Through these experiences, I have the expertise to help clients navigate life challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, career transitions & cultural identity. I help students understand how distorted perceptions and thoughts can contribute to painful feelings and unwanted behaviors, and we focus not only on understanding your thoughts and emotions, but also on building real-life skills you can use every day to manage stress, improve relationships and feel more confident. I am passionate about assisting students to achieve their goals and enhance their overall quality of life. My style is humorous, honest, and real. I believe therapy works best when you can be your authentic self, and sometimes that means laughing together even when we're doing serious work. I primarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic therapy, and Strength-Based approaches while also meeting you where you are. During our therapy journey, you can expect a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can speak openly and be your authentic self. We'll talk about what brought you in, what's been weighing on you, and what you're hoping will change. I'll ask questions to understand your story, challenges, strengths and goals for treatment. My goal is to help you become the best version of yourself and to create new and better normals. You can expect honesty, humor when appropriate, and real talk about what it takes to move forward. Success is for you to leave our first session feeling supported, hopeful, and clear about the path forward. Remember: keep moving, one step at a time. I provide unconditional support while gently challenging you to grow and successfully complete your goals. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, life transitions, relationship challenges, or feeling unproductive, I am here to walk alongside you while helping you feel empowered, gain knowledge, understanding, and confidence. Aside from providing therapy, I am married and the father of three daughters, two in college and one in high school. I enjoy writing, making music, consulting, mentoring, and spending time with family and friends. I love learning and meeting new challenges, and I am continually looking for ways to grow and develop a healthier understanding of myself, others, and the world. Let's Ascend!

I bring a warm and steady presence, a gentle sense of humor, and a genuine curiosity about your story to sessions. We will start where you are, and can work collaboratively to help you find meaningful change. The therapeutic relationship is essential in taking vulnerable and challenging steps in therapy, and this principle is at the heart of my practice with each person. I can incorporate Narrative Therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Internal Family Systems (Parts Work), nature, and writing into sessions depending on your needs and interests.

Are you feeling strangely absent from your own experience, as though you're moving through life on autopilot? I work with people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, exhausted, disconnected from themselves and others, or uncertain about the life they want to be living. Let's slow things down and take a look at what keeps you stuck, noticing what’s been happening on repeat and what shifts when you begin to respond differently. This work is about making more space for presence, connection, and intentional living. Your body holds the wisdom for healing, and my role is to support you in reconnecting with your innate capacity. Together, we expand your capacity to feel, access inner resources, and experience greater ease and connection. We work with what’s happening in your body in real time, supporting embodied shifts that align with who you are now. If this resonates, it often means something has been running in the background for a while without much space to look at it directly. Let's begin to bring that into view together. Reach out for a complimentary phone consultation to explore if working together feels like the right next step. I am currently working under the direction of Dr. Sophia Aguirre and supervision of Carrie Gensler, LPC, CPCS in pursuit of advanced licensure as an LPC. I am currently in the first year of a three-year Somatic Experiencing® (SE) training program and integrate SE principles into my work.
