Therapists for college students near 02155
Are you looking for support navigating the transitions related to college life? I have over 10 years of experience working with young adults to navigate the ups and downs that come from life transitions and mental health challenges. I work with young people to build confidence and skills to be the best version of themselves. I believe in building strong relationships and being authentic in therapy. Life is hard, but it doesn't have to feel impossible!
Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by stress, grief, shame, or old patterns that they cannot seem to break. In our sessions you will have room to slow down, reflect, and release the weight of what you have been carrying. We aim to help you feel more grounded, more confident, and more connected to the life you want, both personally and professionally. We are a group practice led by Rebecca, an LICSW, and Julianne, an LMHC, offering Tuesday and Friday telehealth appointments with the goal of providing accessible, supportive therapy for all patients. If you are ready to begin this process, we are here to support you. Our work is grounded in cognitive behavioral and trauma informed approaches. This means we focus on helping you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and experiences interact, and how you can develop practical tools to cope with what you are going through. We work with adults, and welcome anyone seeking support for depression, trauma, grief, stress, or life changes. Whether challenges are longstanding or new, you do not have to face them alone.

I offer telehealth services in a confidential environment, with a flexible schedule that includes early morning, daytime, and evening hours. I have worked with individuals who have experienced a variety of challenges, including grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, parenting, family and relationship conflict, life transitions, college-related stress, domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse and neglect, and other issues that impact daily functioning. I hold certifications as a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCAPT), Certified Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist (CAGCS), and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). My trainings and certifications enable me to provide specialized support tailored to your unique needs. My expertise spans various therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), mindfulness, strength-based and family-focused methods. However, I do not adhere to a single treatment model; instead, I tailor my approach to each individual's unique needs and circumstance. I am committed to fostering a safe, supportive environment where we can work together to address your concerns, manage difficulties, and work towards your mental health and well-being goals. Welcome! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and psychotherapist. One of my areas of emphasis is counseling undergraduate and graduate students who are navigating the complexities of college life and balancing the demands that often accompany this time. It is common for these years to bring discovery and connection as well as stress, pressure and anxiety. In collaboration, we can work through what is challenging or making you feel stuck or avoidant. We can address mental health concerns that may be disrupting your path. We will look at your day-to-day functioning as well as the bigger picture of your life. I will support you in taking meaningful steps towards your goals. I have extensive specialized experience treating OCD, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, and BFRBs. While in training, I also completed an internship at a college counseling center where I had the wonderful opportunity to counsel students entering healthcare professions. It can be helpful for potential clients to know ahead of time that I am "in- network" with Boston University Aetna Student Health specifically. If you have this insurance, your visits are covered and you are only responsible for your copay. In all other cases, I am "out-of network." I am happy to offer a superbill invoice you can submit to your insurance for partial or full reimbursement, if you have out-of-network benefits and are eligible for reimbursement. If you aren't sure whether you do, you can call the phone number on your insurance card to ask. I am licensed in MA and CT. I am with the group practice, Soultality Center for Psychotherapy. I look forward to getting to know you!

These days, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed — anxious, angry, stuck, or just plain exhausted. If that’s where you are, you’re not alone. And your experience matters. Just because others are struggling too doesn’t make your pain any less real. Maybe your mind won’t stop racing. Maybe you feel out of control, trapped in old patterns, or unsure how to move forward. I’ve worked with many people navigating these same waters — helping them find steadier ground, soften anxiety and anger, and reconnect with their creativity, clarity, and relationships. In therapy, you don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t have to perform. You just have to show up as you are. I offer a grounded, compassionate space where we move at your pace. You bring what’s real — and together, we explore it with honesty and care. Whether you’re looking for support, growth, or space to breathe, our work is about learning to relate to yourself differently — with more freedom, more awareness, and more trust in your own way forward.
Hi! My name is Julia, and I’m excited to meet you! First, let me introduce myself and share what working with me will be like. My practice focuses on balancing acceptance and change—embracing who you are and your life-circumstances, while also encouraging progress and self-transformation. My method combines evidence-based modalities (Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Practices) with Liberation Health Theory, a holistic approach that will help you unlearn harmful societal messages that are deeply ingrained in all of us. I’m committed to helping you build internal self-worth and trust. You will be able to tap back into your intuition, and move forward with confidence. I often use humor in our sessions to help make things feel a bit more relaxed. It’s all about finding a balance—supporting you through challenges while keeping things approachable. Nobody wants to feel like they’re talking to a wall! I show up authentically in sessions, hoping that you can too. I specialize in helping clients navigate: * Life changes * Depression * Anxiety * Body image concerns / self-esteem * Relationship struggles * Trauma * Family relationships / boundaries * Navigating neurodivergence (ADHD, ASD, etc.) We all deserve to face life’s unique challenges from a regulated starting point. I know that this is not always easy in 2024, and I will be committed to your improvement, whatever that looks like for you. I meet you where you are at. You can text/call me at 617-546-7630 or book directly at my website!
College can be overwhelming: academics, social life, family pressures, and future plans are a lot to navigate all at once. My goal is to support students through these challenges by creating a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. Together, we’ll work on building real-life coping skills, finding your personal strengths, and making room for growth and healing, no matter where you’re starting from. I take a big-picture approach, helping you look at how different parts of your life, like your relationships, identity, cultural background, and environment, affect your mental health. I specialize in helping students manage anxiety, depression, and high-stress situations, and I’m experienced in offering calm, practical support when things feel like they’re falling apart. I also believe that connection is key to healing. Whether it’s getting involved on campus, leaning on your support system, or just knowing you’re not alone, community can make a big difference. I often collaborate with school counselors, doctors, and even coaches or personal trainers to make sure you're supported in every area of your life. Because mental wellness isn't just about getting through the hard times; it's about building a strong foundation for everything that comes next.
If you are reading this, then you are looking for some help. I got you. Mind Matters Therapeutics is my brain child (see what I did there?). I taught for a decade, then I decided to go back to school to practice medicine. Best decision I ever made. The best part of all this? I know the ups, downs, inside-outs, stressors, and joys of being a student. I know the demands of college coursework. I have expertise in advocating for young adults in the educational setting regardless of the individual concern: Are you looking for continuation of care? I will pick up where your hometown doc left off. Keep you going strong. Are you looking for academic accommodations and advocacy? I will fight for you. And my paperwork is exceptional. Are you looking for someone to talk to? I specialize in trauma-focused therapy and OCD/anxiety type therapy. I can see you as much as you need to be seen, no limitations. Are you in need of just figuring it all out? My initial assessments are thorough; I leave no stone unturned. I take the time to listen to you. Always. You’re the captain of the ship, and you’re in control of your care. We will figure out the root issues at the jump. I got you. I will never dismiss you. I will be available to you. I will respond to your questions, needs, concerns, etc. in a timely way. I am on your team, I work for you. I sincerely care. I do this for my soul, not my pocket. I’d love to help. P.S. Don’t sweat the insurance. I know how to work with in and out-of-network insurance. My students pay little (if anything) to see me. Honest. Best, Des O’Doherty Mind Matters Therapeutics

My practice focuses supporting people in clarifying their values and in living lives that realize their deepest values. I believe that there are many ways to be mentally healthy, and I pursue a pluralistic view of mental health, one which varies from person to person. I aim to be a patient and supportive companion for you to determine what is important to you and to make meaningful change. I have worked as a professor at a number of universities in the US and abroad, and I have also worked as a social worker for young adults with mental illness. My academic and psychiatric experience makes me an ideal fit for working with students (undergraduate or graduate) who are facing life transitions or mental health challenges. Therapy is an exciting journey and it is always a pleasure to meet new or potential clients. I look forward to hearing from you.
Offering telehealth sessions! I believe we are all naturally inclined toward personal growth and success—each of us with our own strengths, desires, and goals that would lead us in the direction of contentment and happiness under optimal conditions. Problems arise because we don’t live in a perfect world, and in an effort to adapt, we sometimes develop strategies that make sense in the short term, but are not effective in moving us forward. We “get stuck,” leading to anxiety, frustration, and conflict, which leads in turn to us feeling bad about ourselves and our relationships. I view therapy as a collaboration between me and my clients, where we work together to understand the root causes of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that get in the way of resolving problems. Together, we will clarify your goals, uncover and capitalize on existing strengths, and develop new ways of working through difficulties. My style, which is both directive and supportive, honest and compassionate, works to build the trusting relationship that will be key to our work together. My approach is integrative, eclectic, and flexible: we'll start wherever you are and go from there. The first step is the hardest, but you're not alone in the journey. Give me a call and we'll get you on your way!
I became a therapist to provide support and affirmation to folks with systemically oppressed identities (e.g., trans and queer folks, ADHDers, kinksters, chronically ill/disabled folks, POC, cis women). I am dedicated to working with individuals facing interpersonal, life, and identity-related challenges, such as navigating gender roles and emerging adulthood (college and grad students welcome!). I collaborate with clients on a variety of concerns, such as anxiety, relationships/dating, boundaries, difference in views/beliefs from family of origin, and imposter syndrome. In my work, I use approaches such as Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients. I like to mix in gentleness, deep exploration, celebration, and the occasional “dad joke” to our work. My clients tell me this approach makes them feel truly heard, learn to advocate for themselves, and move toward their values. I believe that you deserve frank, warm support and to not be handled with kid gloves (or the dreaded, overly soothing “therapist voice”). If you want to invite me onto your therapy journey, I’d be thrilled to hear from you. I offer a free, 15 minute consultation to discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and to tell you more about what I can offer you. My Background and Approach I am devoted to building genuine, nourishing connections with my clients. My graduate training focused on providing multiculturally affirming therapy to people of a variety of backgrounds and intersecting identities. I also trained in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to aid clients in achieving their therapeutic goals. I have specialized training in working with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and the young adult population, both in university and community health settings. Last, I bring my lived experience as a Queer, White, chronically ill, genderqueer being to my work with clients. I own my privilege and discuss, as it arises, power dynamics that may occur between us due to our identities, beliefs, and experiences. I believe these conversations are critical for full honesty and trust in your mental health journey.
