Working with me is a collaborative experience. I like to think of it as a road trip. You’re in the driver’s seat. I’m in the passenger seat, helping navigate. You tell me what you’re seeing. What feels confusing. What feels overwhelming. What feels stuck. And together, we figure out where you actually want to go. Sometimes we’ll take a left into childhood, family dynamics, and old stories that shaped you. Sometimes we’ll take a right into present-day tools, boundaries, communication skills, and routines. You’re the expert in your life, what has worked, what hasn’t and what is important to you now. I bring my psych knowledge, tools, and experience with clients. When we combine these. We can get you where you want to go. People say education is power and I agree, but information alone is useless. When I use my education, it’s not to lecture, instead it’s to empower you to challenge you to integrate it. Once you understand what’s happening in your mind and body, you’re not just reacting anymore. You’re choosing. Sometimes I’ll challenge you. Sometimes you’ll challenge me. That’s part of real collaboration. When I work with someone, I’m committed to this process with you. I’ll show up fully, adapt to who you are, and push you compassionately toward growth. You don’t have to do this alone. Let’s take this road trip together.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in midtown Manhattan. When I decided to go back to school for a master’s degree, I chose social work because I felt strongly about its foundational belief that focus should be on both a person and their environment. During graduate school at Fordham University I saw many appealing paths I could continue on after graduation. While both macro and micro levels of practice are extremely important, I felt best suited for work with individuals on a deeper level. I wanted to further my education and went on to complete the four-year postgraduate training program in Adult Psychoanalysis and Comprehensive Psychotherapy from The National Institute for the Psychotherapies. Prior to private practice I worked with a diverse population in various clinics throughout New York City. In addition to private practice I have been guest faculty at the Training Institute for Mental Health and taught a course on Eating Disorders. In March 2020, I completed a post master’s program in Spirituality and Social Work at New York University.

Hello, My name is Lauren Pezzo and I am the owner of Dedicated Peace. I am a solo practitioner seeing clients remotely. I treat a variety of ages from 13 - 55+ and I am most familiar with Mood Disorders (Depression, Anxiety, Bi-Polar, Panic, etc). I have worked with individuals with a history of trauma be it recent or in the past. I do well with relationship issues, couples sessions and handling familial conflict. I am very big on clients learning to change their narrative. Meaning being open to changing the various stories we tend to tell and sell ourselves over the years. I want to help people think in the grey area of life and be open to challenging narrow thinking we may have become accustomed to.
Life can be overwhelming. The challenges of living with social isolation, emotional pain, grief, anxiety and depression can prevent us from living the life we desire. The effects of trauma can be unbearable and intolerable and can affect both the individual and those around them. Low self esteem and destructive urges and behaviors deter from productive and satisfying lives. Together, we'll improve your ability to express your feelings, reflect on your reactions and behaviors, develop life skills and gain awareness that can lead you to a more effective and full-filling life. My approach is validating and collaborative - Warm, down-to-earth and non-intimidating, I use DBT, EMDR and DBR to best address the needs of my clients. Living with a chronic medical condition can feel like an exhausting, uphill battle that touches every single part of your life. Whether you are navigating the unpredictable daily realities of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) or adapting to a new diagnosis, the mental toll is just as real as the physical one. You don't have to carry that weight alone. As a licensed clinical social worker with 11 years of experience in medical settings, I specialize in the profound intersection of physical health and mental well-being. My approach is rooted in deep empathy and clinical expertise, helping individuals navigate the grief, anxiety, and daily hurdles of living with chronic illness. Together, we will work on reclaiming your quality of life, building practical coping strategies, and finding a sense of peace and agency in a body that has felt unpredictable.

I support college students who are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, burned out, or unsure of where they’re headed. College is a time filled with personal and professional growth, but it can also bring up a lot stress about grades or the future, pressure to succeed, struggles with self-doubt or imposter syndrome, and challenges in relationships with family, friends, or romantic partners. You might be feeling like you're supposed to have it all figured out, but the truth is, it’s okay if you don’t. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, or just trying to keep up with everything on your plate, our sessions can be a space to slow down, reflect, and get the support you need. I believe therapy works best when we work together, so I take a collaborative approach to help you identify your goals, track your growth, and adjust as needed. Together, we'll work to help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected.

With over 20 years of experience, I’m an anxiety specialist who helps college students navigate overthinking, self-doubt, avoidance, uncertainty, academic stress, relationship challenges, and the demands of balancing school, work, and personal responsibilities. I also support students experiencing OCD, panic attacks, depression, and ADHD. I integrate evidence-based approaches, including CBT, ERP, and ACT, tailoring treatment to your individual needs and goals. ERP is considered the gold-standard treatment for OCD, while CBT and ACT provide effective tools for managing anxiety, difficult emotions, and unhelpful patterns. We’ll work together to understand what may be keeping you stuck and find more effective ways to respond when anxiety, difficult emotions, or uncertainty arise. You’ll leave sessions with practical strategies to apply in your everyday life. Whether you’re adjusting to college, struggling to keep up with competing demands, navigating relationships, or preparing for life after graduation, I’d be glad to help.
Asking for help is an act of courage; it is one of the bravest things you can do. As an eclectic therapist, I primarily draw from psychodynamic, relational, cognitive behavioral, and humanistic theory to provide an inclusive, affirming, trauma-sensitive space for individuals to engage in healing and self-exploration. I have experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings with adults battling challenges including PTSD/complex trauma, domestic/intimate partner violence, mood disorders, LGBTQIA+ issues, personality disorders, and perinatal mental health.
Every client has unique stories and needs. I blend clinical expertise with a compassionate environment rooted in empathy, trust, and collaboration. I have extensive experience assisting clients in navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and relationship challenges. I don't believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Together, we will work to identify the issues and goals most important to you. To help you achieve meaningful growth, I tailor aspects of CBT, ACT, and DBT, including mindfulness and distress tolerance skills, to your unique situation. I believe the relationship between the client and therapist is critical for healing. I will work to encourage, support, and guide you as you make your own choices and lead your own progress. I invite you to reach out for a consultation to see if we are a good match for the goals you want to achieve.
Nicole Chang is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with extensive experience providing mental health care to college students. College can be a meaningful and exciting chapter, but it can also bring intense pressure, uncertainty, identity questions, family stress, relationship challenges, burnout, anxiety, and executive functioning struggles. My practice offers a warm, collaborative space where students can slow down, feel understood, and develop practical tools for navigating both emotional distress and daily life demands. At Karuna Psychotherapy & Consulting , therapy is trauma-responsive, compassion-focused, and neuroscience-informed, with an emphasis on mind–body integration, relational attunement, and authentic human connection. At Karuna, we support deep healing, wholeness, and personal growth through compassionate, relational, mind–body psychology. I work from a non-shaming, culturally aware , LGBTQ+ affirming, and neurodiversity-affirming perspective. Together, we may explore patterns of stress, self-criticism, avoidance, perfectionism, overwhelm, attachment wounds, or disconnection from the body. My approach integrates evidence-informed psychotherapy, mindfulness, self-compassion, nervous system regulation, parts work, and insight-oriented reflection. My goal is to help students feel safer within themselves, better able to understand their emotions, and more empowered to move toward relationships, values, and choices that support their well-being.
I specialize in assessment and treatment of sleep problems and ADHD. I am board certified in behavioral sleep medicine (i.e., the behavioral treatment of sleep difficulties). I provide CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I) and also treat other sleep problems such as circadian rhythm disorders (e.g., delayed sleep phase) and nightmares. I also have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of ADHD. I provide neuropsychological and psychoeducational evaluations, including testing for the purpose of requesting accommodations on standardized exams, and ADHD/executive function coaching (also known as CBT for ADHD).
When you make the decision to attend therapy, you are making the decision to prioritize your wellbeing in a fundamentally unique way. Therapy is something that can be challenging, but also transformative– Especially for those who have not been listened to, believed, or had the freedom to pause and practice introspection due to the demands of life. Knowing the challenges of finding a therapist who can understand your life experiences, I prioritize working with communities with whom I share personal experience. This includes, but is not limited to: LGBTQIA+, polyamorous/ENM, BDSM/kink, sex worker, SA/DV survivors, neurodivergent, chronically ill & disabled communities. My work is grounded in Relational-Cultural Therapy, which emphasizes the importance of the relationship between therapist and client as an essential part of the therapeutic process. I aim to minimize power dynamics in the room between therapist and client, and firmly believe you are the expert of your life. Rather than an authority in the room, I see my role as a collaborator in helping you achieve your therapy goals. For those who wish to know my social location: I am a Black, queer, disabled, neurodivergent, polyamorous, non-binary therapist in my 30s. I come from a middle-class background in a mixed race household, am a US citizen, and was raised Catholic but am not religious. I approach therapy as a team effort grounded in trauma-informed, anti-racist, fat liberatory, sex & kink positive, and feminist ideals. My therapy practice is eclectic, borrowing from multiple modalities in order to find the best approach for each individual client, couple, or polycule. Common approaches I incorporate include: EFT (emotion focused therapy), IFS (internal family systems), Sex Therapy, and Attachment Theory. I work with clients on a variety of topics, but special interests include: Unpacking attachment wounds using IFS; Transition stages in Poly/ENM; Freedom from shame regarding sex & kink; Impacts of disability; Relationships to health, disordered eating, and/or fatness from a fat liberatory and body neutrality lens. If you are curious about working together, please email lowell@expressyourselftherapynyc.com to set up a free consultation.
