I’m a therapist-in-training and a Certified Peer Support Specialist with nine years of experience supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. Leveraging my dual expertise as a Mental Health Counselor & Registered Nurse, I have a holistic approach to therapy + mind-body health. We might be a good match if you're a young adult experiencing relationship or confidence issues that leave you feeling like you're not enough. Maybe you've been told to "stop overthinking", or you're constantly doubting yourself and comparing your accomplishments to everyone around you. Our work together will help you heal from the past, feel more confident, set boundaries, build meaningful relationships & friendships, and become more of the person you truly want to be. I specialize in performance goals (academic or sport), self-esteem & confidence, and ADHD. I offer online therapy for New York state residents. As a modern therapist and registered nurse, my approach is holistic, warm, motivating & collaborative. I go beyond surface-level advice like, "just be yourself" or "don't worry". Together, we'll work to uncover what’s beneath the patterns that are holding you back so that you can move forward in life and achieve your goals. I focus on creating a space where you feel understood, encouraged, and motivated. My hope is that you leave sessions feeling like you're growing, evolving, and becoming your best self.
I offer compassionate and transformative psychotherapy to individuals 18+ throughout the lifespan, drawing upon both traditional and innovative tools to provide highly individualized and attuned support. I have expertise working with anxiety (including social anxiety), life transitions, grief, trauma, work-related stress, family conflicts, and relationship issues. I also work frequently with spirituality and religion, multicultural issues, adjustment disorder, and concerns relating to college students and recent graduates. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 15 years of professional experience. I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Religious Studies and graduating Cum Laude. I received my Master in Social Work degree at NYU. I have a certificate in Relational Psychotherapy and utilize mindfulness-based tools like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In addition, I have trained in IFS (Internal Family Systems) level 1 and the beginning and intermediate levels of Somatic Experiencing (a body-based approach), innovative therapeutic tools that I incorporate into my work. If a client already working with a primary therapist wishes to pursue an adjunct treatment focusing specifically on SE or IFS, I can design a therapy program to support these goals. I also provide adjunct therapy specifically targeting social anxiety. Before transitioning to private practice, I was a staff therapist at Columbia University Counseling and Psychological Services for eight years. I have extensive experience offering psychotherapy to adults of all ages, leading groups focused on creating connections and managing anxiety, and presenting virtual and in-person workshops to large audiences in professional and educational contexts. At this time, I see clients via telehealth throughout New York State and do not offer in-person sessions. Please feel free to reach out to me to discuss how I may support you.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by anxiety and sadness? Are you struggling with habits that make you feel like you’re in a rut? Maybe you’re having difficulty adjusting to changes in your life and need compassionate support? I have several years of experience working with these issues with clients from diverse backgrounds, and utilizing effective evidence based approaches and compassionate understanding that create an affirming space for healing and change. I utilize an integrative approach that emphasizes CBT, Somatic, Person-centered, and DBT practices to help you learn and implement effective skills, develop compassionate and affirming self acceptance, and uncover and integrate insight as you move towards your goals.
I work with individuals who are curious to pursue change - whether this be by reflecting on obstacles, with a specific goal in mind, or simply because something feels as if it is not "working" for them. One does not have to be 100% motivated to use therapy well, instead, s/he/they can come to sessions with any sense of willingness to explore.

Clients come to me to reduce distress and bring ease into their lives. I practice affirmative therapy that is trauma-informed, nonjudgmental, and direct. I invite you to plant the next seed in your healing journey, a space where your whole self is welcome, not only the parts that learned to survive. I’m Lalo Nahui (lah-loh nah-wee) and I use they/he pronouns. I am a queer, transmasc, neurodivergent, disabled, polyamorous, first-generation Mexican therapist. My lived experience shapes how I listen, how I notice, and how I sit with you in this work we grow together. I work with college students who are tired of surviving on autopilot, balancing academics, relationships, jobs, and the expectation to always have it figured out. You might be navigating identity exploration, grief, anxiety, burnout, executive functioning or procrastination, career decisions, or the impact of carrying burdens that were never yours to carry. Maybe therapy has felt like talking without it landing in your body; together we create practices that feel embodied, creative, and practical. We slow down. We listen to your nervous system with patience, curiosity, and care. We make space for parts of you that learned to protect, perform, disappear, or endure, and we tend to them like weathered land learning to soften again. I weave somatic and nervous-system attuned practices, parts work, narrative and expressive approaches, and spiritual tools like tarot or astrology when desired. I also offer neurodivergent-informed coaching for routines, time management, and goal-setting. I center queer and trans students, QTBIPOC and students of the global majority, neurodivergent and disabled students, and first-generation and immigrant students. This work is collaborative, consent-based, and rooted in care, curiosity, and accountability. Healing moves at the pace of your body; it unfolds in cycles and seasons. Together we clarify next steps, release narratives that echo in your body, and practice returning to your full self in ways that feel real, embodied, and empowering. Virtual telehealth available in New York (Under Supervision of Andrew Triska, LCSW).
Are you a resilient person who is struggling? Have you lived through a recent traumatic event or had a stressful childhood, and find yourself frequently stuck in self-destructive patterns and relationships? Is adjusting to college life causing you to feel anxious, depressed, or overwhelmed and just plain burnt out? Or have you experienced a sexual assault and don't know how to deal with it? Adjusting to college is a significant life transition and it's not always clear what to do next. Finding confidence in your own voice and abilities, and clarity about your own needs can be difficult when you've been through stressful experiences. I'm here to guide you back to yourself, offer you some coping skills, help you clarify your life direction and reach your goals. I specialize in working with professionals in the performing arts and other creative fields, as well as those who want to enter them. I also work frequently with people in the helping professions and social justice oriented fields. My approach is informed by my own life experience as a former professional dancer in the American Ballet Theatre, and by the study of meditation and yoga. I have been in the social work field since graduating from Hunter College School of Social work 2004. In addition to talk therapy, I use mindfulness techniques like meditation, guided visualizations, as well as attention to body sensations to help you identify and begin to move through where you get blocked. I am also trained in EMDR and utilize that technique to help people heal from trauma and other stressful experiences. **Will be out of office July 11-.**
