“Healing doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It means the damage no longer controls our lives.” Healing from trauma is a journey; a journey I would be honored to be on with you. My experience is working with children, adolescents and young adults who may have suffered from a trauma in their life, such as physical, sexual or emotional abuse, domestic violence, chronic illnesses, etc. I work with young adults who struggle with depression, anxiety and transitions in their lives. When working with adolescents and young adults it is also important to incorporate the family in the journey of healing. My approach is holistic with a specialization of trauma. I believe in meeting each client where they are every time they walk through my door. I believe in seeing a person as a whole and finding strengths in every situation. I am passionate about helping clients take control of their lives and feeling empowered. For additional information, please contact me via phone or email. I look forward to talking with you soon!

Licensed Dance/Movement Therapist
Red Hook, NY

When emotions stir within, causing anxiety, depression, or distress in relationships, life can feel overwhelming. I view these shifts as gifts, like an indicator light your higher Self is yearning for a personal growth spurt. These feelings can be an opportunity to free yourself from the experiences that hold you back from living your best life. My ideal client is ready to explore their internal world to make the changes needed to create a positive transformation. I am a body-based trauma-informed therapist with a master’s degree in dance/movement therapy. I use the creative process and visualization as a tool for exploration. The imagination can bypass the parts of the brain that keep us stuck in unwanted behaviors and can more easily access the parts that hold the answers. By engaging the mind and body with resources that calm the central nervous system, we have greater access to the pain filled memories impeding us from reaching our full potential and allow insight to surface. I integrate CRM (Comprehensive Resource Model), a neurobiological trauma model to help release traumatic events that may be locked into the body by using resources that can be used between sessions. After 20 years of working as a therapist, I took a deep dive into my own therapeutic process and wrote a book about the experience - a memoir to be published soon. My goal is to be your guide, a doula of sorts, to help birth the person you have always wanted to become. Call or email to see if we are a match for your personal growth journey. My availability fluctuates so please feel free to check in with me if available times do not meet your needs.

Hudson, NY

I am a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) in Claverack (next to the city of Hudson) in Columbia County, NY. I am passionate about authentic self-expression and somatic experience in psychotherapy. I specialize in treating anxiety, attachment, trauma and relationships for children and adults. My approach is a seasoned blend of Somatic/Attachment work based on the DARe Method with Expressive Art Therapy, especially Music Therapy. I also specialize in Music Therapy for children on the Autism spectrum and young people who are less responsive to talk therapy. I have worked in the foster care system in the state of New York since 2010. I am trained and experienced in working with children and families from diverse backgrounds. I obtained my psychotherapy license (LCAT) in 2020 and am currently working in private practice in the Hudson Valley. I am also a musician, and a multi-instrumentalist. Among my background is extensive training in the meditative tradition of Indian Classical music on the Bansuri flute. I incorporate therapeutic music experiences in two ways: music making together and/or receptive methods in which client can receive somatic sound experiences. I love being in nature, playing music, spending time with my wife and two kids, swimming hiking and camping, and playing my heart out. Feel free to reach out for a free consultation! Please visit my website to schedule any appointments.

I strongly value creating a compassionate and non-judgmental setting where we can work together to address your challenges and build a more enjoyable and meaningful life. I use evidence-based treatments to address a wide range of problems including anxiety disorders and stress management, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders (ex: OCD, skin picking, hair pulling), PTSD, mood disorders (ex: depression, bipolar disorder), and insomnia. My treatment approach explores the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and incorporates mindfulness and acceptance techniques to help make lasting changes in your everyday life. I find that this approach adds to my clients’ understanding of themselves and helps them develop greater self-compassion and empowerment in the face of their difficulties. Give me a call so we can discuss what you're looking for and whether we might be a good fit!

there are a number of credentials i could share about myself and ways you might decide if i'm the right therapist for you, but honestly, between you and me, what matters is that i love this work and i believe in this work. i feel deeply humbled to hold people's stories and hearts for a living. the trust that this work requires is no small thing, and i never take that lightly. in my clinical practice, i use theories rooted in an anti-racist, queer liberation, harm reduction, and body-neutral framework. i feel most drawn to this work through an attachment-focused analytical frame. we have all been harmed in relationships, and i believe our healing must also exist in relationships. i know we cannot look at one's personal frame without understanding the systemic and cultural impact that intersectionality has had on one's own experience. i have committed to my clinical work always evolving, and we will both teach each other what comes next. i can't promise a safe place, but i can promise an accountable one. i will create the container, i will show up for rupture, and together we will build a foundation of trust to help you heal, grow, challenge, and shift the things that brought you here. i received my master's in clinical social work from silberman school of social work at hunter college in new york city. after graduation, i worked in community mental health, supporting young mothers on their journey towards recovery from opioid-based addictions. i then joined a group practice where i've worked for many years, supporting folks to heal complicated relationships with food, their bodies, their boundaries, their gender, and their sexuality. i believe i am a partner in this work with you, and as people change, heal, and move forward in their lives, i feel profoundly impacted to bear witness and be a part of your story. it is miraculous. finding the right therapist is a process: trust yourself, explore, ask hard questions. we work for you and with you. i am a white, queer, abolitionist, non-binary, dyslexic, jewish, body-liberatory therapist, and most importantly, a client. the only thing i ask of the folks i work with is a commitment to show up, and the rest we will figure out together.

I'm a zen practicing therapist+musician who loves working with people on their journeys to healthier relationships and becoming their most authentic selves. I was raised fundamentalist and spent my childhood learning fire and brimstone theology and memorizing verses from the King James Bible. Needless to say I chose to leave the "sinners in the hands of an angry God" mentality behind when I grew up. The truth is, being hard on ourselves doesn't help us or anyone else. But compassion, love, acceptance and presence connect us to who we really are, and who we can become. Along the journey, I've played a lot of music (with friends, in bands) and become a therapist. I wrote an album while in grad school and took a year off after grad school to play shows and work at a record store. I believe it's OK to have multiple passions, to want to do a lot of things, to use your voice, and to take your time figuring it all out. In our work together, I want to help you tap into your own creativity and inner wisdom while also drawing from evidence-based modalities to help you live a purposeful life, deepen your relationships, and reach your goals as a couple or as an individual. LGBTQI affirming. Puedo hablar contigo un poco de español, pero no puedo hablar con fluencia.

I am a licensed psychotherapist and I specialize in supporting youth and young adults navigating chronic illness (e.g., autoimmune disorders), anxiety, depression, sports-related stress, disordered eating, weight loss, trauma, and relationship challenges. Facing a chronic condition at a young age can feel isolating, and life changes such as starting college, beginning a new career, or being a student-athlete may be overwhelming. Navigating body image and your relationship with food can be confusing, and trying to lose weight only to fall back into old habits can feel defeating. Being a young person in today’s world IS hard - like trying to keep your head above water. I lead sessions with compassion and lightheartedness. As a psychotherapist and future dietitian, I often use health psychology research and mind-body practices during the healing process. Therefore, I honor each person’s lived experience while helping them understand how their brain and body respond to stress. I work to help you develop helpful thought patterns, identify your strengths, live by your values, and find relief. Most importantly, I hold space to be a human. If you feel that I may be a good fit for your needs, I would be happy to connect and discuss how I can help you on your healing journey.
