Therapists for college students near New York University
I have years of experience working with folks of all ages in various settings towards their mental health and life goals. With curiosity, humor, and compassion, I strive to create a space to explore the oftentimes messy worlds within and around us. I believe we all have an innate profound ability to heal ourselves that can be activated with the right support. I specialize in anxiety, depression, life transitions, establishing/maintaining routines, and supporting those with chronic health challenges primarily - though I have experience with a wide array of life conditions. While the work is often grounded in psychodynamic and CBT approaches, other healing modalities are incorporated as well. You can expect that goals, values, and identities, what makes us-us will be explored, and often guides the process. I welcome any questions you may have, and look forward to hearing from you.

I’m a good fit for students who get trapped in their head—overthinking everything, replaying conversations, second-guessing decisions, or feeling like they can’t relax unless everything is “handled.” You might be high-achieving, but constantly stressed, exhausted, or scared of messing up. Sometimes that turns into procrastination, avoidance, or feeling numb. In therapy, we’ll focus on helping you calm the mental noise, handle stress more effectively, and build confidence in your choices—so school and life don’t feel like a constant emergency.
First off, I would like to thank you sincerely for allowing me to be a part of your personal journey. I appreciate how difficult it is to share your most intimate, private thoughts and feelings, and will guarantee you a trustworthy, supportive, and honest relationship if you choose to enter one. I am Rakell, a Licensed Social Worker continuously striving to enhance my education and experience. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Social Work. Additionally, I am certified in Child Welfare and Trauma-Informed Care, always embracing new training opportunities to expand my knowledge. Many of my clients often face trauma, mental health challenges, or complex family dynamics. They seek a compassionate and skilled therapist who understands the multifaceted nature of their experiences and can provide effective, evidence-based support. Their goals may include healing from past trauma, improving family relationships, managing anxiety or depression, or navigating life's transitions with greater resilience. In my practice, I take a trauma-focused approach while considering the systemic factors that influence each client's life. I employ a variety of therapeutic methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Humanistic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Family Systems Theory. I work with children, adolescents, families, couples, the elderly, and individuals with developmental disabilities. I look forward to meeting you and joining your lifelong journey to embrace your health—mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically, and culturally. If chosen to be your therapist, I will always promote safety, security, happiness, and positivity in a non-judgmental manner. I believe that a positive therapeutic relationship is a crucial tool for enhancing your healing process and capabilities. Together, we can build that relationship and work towards your goals. If this relationship does not work out, I will make every effort to provide referrals that may suit you better. Let's take this step together and create a path towards a healthier, more fulfilling life. Reach out to begin your journey of healing and growth.

Hi I'm Liz! I know that reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step, and my goal is to make it a comfortable one. I’m here to offer a space where you can feel understood, supported, and free to just be yourself. I help individuals who are struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, or difficult transitions so they can regain a sense of control, confidence, and calm in their everyday lives. My approach centers on uncovering patterns, improving emotional regulation, and offering strategies that fit your day-to-day life. Together, we’ll explore the thoughts and feelings that may be holding you back. I’ll help you build simple, practical tools to manage stress, ease anxiety, improve self-talk, and move through life’s challenges with steadier confidence.
I'm a clinical psychologist and a trained psychoanalyst. I believe that what promotes growth and mental health is the process of putting real but hard to see aspects of your experience into words. This decreases their power and brings them more to heel for you. This is different from challenging thoughts or skill building. You as the patient should have clear evidence in therapy that you're coming to understand yourself better and more fully. Old, stuck ways of thinking should slowly give way to the ability to think more effectively about what is and what can be. Your sense of 'you' should grow wider and more secure, and your ability live and act with purpose of your choosing should slowly build.
Hi! My name is Melissa Mason (she/her) and I'm a seasoned therapist with an established history of working with adolescents & young adults. I possess clinical expertise in eating disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma & other co-occurring disorders & I specialize in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) designed to reduce symptoms of trauma & PTSD. In addition to my clinical training I have been extensively trained in the use of yoga & mindfulness as a complimentary intervention. I recognize the strong connection between mind & body & work to help clients develop practices that enhance their overall wellness. My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that an effective therapist builds good relationships, built on mutual respect & trust. This sets the tone for the work & allows the client to feel safe enough to be vulnerable. I work with clients to develop insight into the function of their presenting problem without shame or judgement, allowing them to find alternative ways to get their needs met. I believe in taking a multidimensional approach to treatment & work collaboratively with allied professionals to ensure each patient is getting the most comprehensive care possible. I whole heartedly believe recovery from whatever you are struggling with is possible & aim to impart that hope to my clients. My approach is warm, open & non-judgmental. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/melissa-mason-fishkill-ny/789530
