Therapists for college students near New York, NY
College years are exciting and full of opportunity, but they also have their share of challenges. Navigating academic pressure and social changes, managing stress and uncertainty about the future, balancing academic demands with work, family, and social life can feel overwhelming. As a therapist working with college students I draw on my own experiences as a student in multiple settings and work to provide a supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals without judgment. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, or just adjusting to the demands of college life, I’m here to help. Together, we can explore your strengths, learn and implement strategies to cope with the stress, and help you identify a path that will feel meaningful and fulfilling to you. As a person-centered therapist I work to create a space where you can be unapologetically yourself. I provide non-judgmental, compassionate and affirming support to individuals navigating the complexities of life, including dealing with depression and anxiety, navigating significant life transitions, and exploring gender identity and sexuality. My therapy approach is rooted in understanding, respect, and empowerment. I offer a safe environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. Together, we’ll work to identify your strengths and cultivate a sense of authenticity and self-acceptance. Working from a perspective of cultural humility and drawing from evidence-based practices, I tailor therapy to meet your specific needs and goals. I commit to providing you with the support you need to thrive in all aspects of your life. The goal in my work is to help clients identify anything that will help them feel a sense of fulfillment and meaning in their life – work through any obstacles that they are experiencing – both internal and external – and take steps towards those values. I have specific experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals (particularly transgender and non-binary individuals), neurodivergent individuals, activists and artists. I also draw on personal experience as a transgender, neurodivergent (Autistic) woman in my work. For transgender and non-binary individuals seeking support in medical transitioning I can work with you to explore that and provide any support you need in the process (including letters as needed). I work from a Feminist and Person-Centered perspective and use a mix of Existential, Narrative, and Acceptance & Commitment therapy.

College can be a great time to start exploring relationships and even making long-term bonds. However, the stresses of college life can challenge even the most loving of relationships. I assist couples to identify communication and intimacy issues that prevent them from connecting both physically and emotionally. There is no size fits all. Thus, I seek to collaborate with my clients to co-create a therapeutic experience that creates the trust necessary to do deeper work.
I specialize in working with folks who have substance use-related issues and supporting them on the path to long-term recovery.
Welcome! Thank you so much for being here. As a Dominican-American and first-generation college graduate, I understand the challenges of breaking generational barriers and the value of feeling truly supported. I work with children, teens, and adults, supporting them as they navigate stress, anxiety, depression, and life's many transitions. Please know that you don't have to face any of this alone. Together, we'll create a nonjudgmental, caring space where you can pause, reflect, and gently explore what's on your heart and mind at your own pace. I believe healing occurs when you feel safe, seen, and accepted for who you are. In our sessions, I offer empathy, curiosity, and patience, creating a supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. My approach blends Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to foster insight, trust, and tools for growth. Therapy isn’t about fixing you; it's about walking alongside you, helping you reconnect with your strengths, and creating a safe space for processing and transformation. Wherever you are on your journey, I’m here to support you. If this sounds like what you’re looking for, I would be honored to connect. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!
I’m a licensed psychologist based in New York City, working with young adults, adults, and couples who want to feel more grounded and connected in their lives. People often come to me for help with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, substance use, or the effects of past trauma. Others are simply looking for a better understanding of themselves and the patterns that keep showing up. As a gay therapist, I bring both personal and professional experience to my work with the LGBTQ+ community. I offer a space that’s affirming, open, and free of judgment—where you can be fully yourself. We’ll go at your pace, using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches that fit you as a person. My goal is to make therapy feel safe, collaborative, and genuinely helpful—so you can move toward greater clarity, confidence, and self-understanding.
I am a therapist with over 30 years working in human services and 13 years as a licensed social worker. I have a passion for helping people reach their highest potential in life. I have a desire to help people understand their past experiences and help them make changes in their lives. I have a conversational approach to therapy. I work to create a safe space for people to feel comfortable expressing themselves without judgement.
Working with me is a collaborative experience. I like to think of it as a road trip. You’re in the driver’s seat. I’m in the passenger seat, helping navigate. You tell me what you’re seeing. What feels confusing. What feels overwhelming. What feels stuck. And together, we figure out where you actually want to go. Sometimes we’ll take a left into childhood, family dynamics, and old stories that shaped you. Sometimes we’ll take a right into present-day tools, boundaries, communication skills, and routines. You’re the expert in your life, what has worked, what hasn’t and what is important to you now. I bring my psych knowledge, tools, and experience with clients. When we combine these. We can get you where you want to go. People say education is power and I agree, but information alone is useless. When I use my education, it’s not to lecture, instead it’s to empower you to challenge you to integrate it. Once you understand what’s happening in your mind and body, you’re not just reacting anymore. You’re choosing. Sometimes I’ll challenge you. Sometimes you’ll challenge me. That’s part of real collaboration. When I work with someone, I’m committed to this process with you. I’ll show up fully, adapt to who you are, and push you compassionately toward growth. You don’t have to do this alone. Let’s take this road trip together.
My clients are professionals at every stage of life navigating burnout, identity, relationships, cultural expectations, and the weight of always showing up for others. I draw on CBT, narrative, and strengths-based approaches that are always adapted to who you are and where you come from. My goal is to help you find what already works in you and build from there. I am a multilingual (English, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi) clinical social worker with experience supporting people navigating life transitions across diverse cultural contexts. I specialize in working with individuals facing the particular pressures of their field, from burnout and boundary-setting to identity and belonging.
I help clients navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, and difficult life transitions. Often, we struggle without understanding why. I use various strategies to empower you to become your own agent of change. You possess more inner strength and ability than you might believe, and with the right guidance, we can tap into those hidden resources. Therapy can profoundly impact your life, leading to fulfillment, rewarding experiences, and the realization of your goals. I create a safe space for you to explore your emotions, challenges, and self-discovery. I am easy-going, laid-back, and supportive, always attuned to your needs. Outside of therapy, I enjoy playing guitar and spending time outdoors, bringing a relaxed and open vibe into our sessions. Investing in yourself can bring about positive changes you never imagined. Starting therapy might be the best decision you make today, this week, or this year. It can propel you forward towards a more fulfilling and meaningful life. Embrace this opportunity for growth and transformation!
I’m a licensed psychotherapist (LCSW) and former corporate attorney, now based in New York City. I work with students, young professionals, and emerging leaders who often feel capable and accomplished on the outside but unsettled or stuck internally. I provide depth-oriented, relational therapy, helping clients explore patterns in relationships, identity, and emotional life. My work is informed by attachment, parts-based approaches (IFS), and somatic awareness, with extensive experience supporting trauma survivors. In our work together, I aim to create a reflective, safe space where you can explore what’s really behind the surface of your experiences, without manuals, homework, or pressure. I pay close attention to the relational dynamics between us, while giving you room to wander and discover. I work with adults, couples, and emerging adults, and I also facilitate two small support groups: one for male survivors of childhood sexual abuse and one for new therapists navigating their early clinical work.
At Heresens, we believe healing begins with feeling seen, understood, and empowered. We offer integrative psychotherapy grounded in evidence-based practices, helping adults reconnect with themselves, strengthen relationships, and build lives aligned with their values.
Have trained at college counseling centers, I often work well with students who feel caught between different expectations—school, family, relationships, culture, identity, or future plans. You may be LGBTQ+, international, first-generation, or simply feeling stressed and unsure where you fit. Therapy can help you feel less alone, understand yourself more clearly, and make choices that feel more like your own.
College and the years around it can stir up a lot. Anxiety, depression, relationships, identity, questions around substance use, and sometimes experiences that are genuinely hard to carry alone. If any of that feels familiar, you've found someone who understands. I work with adults and young adults, and I believe most of what brings people to therapy makes sense once we understand the story behind it. Many of the patterns causing you pain today were once the ways you learned to survive. My style is warm, compassionate, and direct, and I'll meet you with acceptance rather than judgment. A significant part of my work has involved supporting people through addiction and recovery, alongside trauma, attachment, and the search for identity. My approach draws on psychodynamic, relational, and trauma-informed perspectives, with attention to both mind and body. We'll move at your pace, and telehealth makes it easy to fit therapy around a full schedule. Whatever you're facing, you won't face it alone.

The Rust Wellness approach to therapy is tailoring each session to fit the needs of the client and consistently reevaluating to meet their evolving issues and concerns. We know how difficult it is to open up about mental health topics, especially with a stranger, so we strive to establish a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages our clients to share their vulnerabilities. Trust is incredibly important in a therapist-client relationship, so we aim to create an environment that will facilitate our clients’ comfort.
As a counselor, I base my approach on my academic knowledge, and real world experience. I attended therapy as a young adolescent due to a loud home environment and being bullied by my peers. I learnt that therapy is a place to further strengthen personal boundaries and ways for practice self expression. Everything that I teach my clients focuses on increasing trust in oneself. Trust yourself to be supported by your environment and to make the best decision in any given moment. Trust that whatever happens, you will be okay.
My passion is helping people improve their relationships and gain a deeper understanding of themselves. I enjoy working with people who are curious about how they experience the world, and who are facing challenges with major life transitions, relationships, creativity, and gender/sexuality. My approach to treatment is warm and eclectic. Therapy is a space to be curious and challenge yourself without judgment. I hope to engage you in an exploratory process to get to the root of what has been troubling you. People often find themselves caught in longstanding, unconscious patterns that show up in many areas of their lives. By working together to identify what these patterns are and how they do or don't serve you, we can create more space in your life for freedom and choice to live as you desire. Good therapy is most of all about a good fit between you and your therapist. I believe you can best gauge our fit by meeting with me, and so I offer a free 15-minute consultation for you to get a feel for how I work, and to bring forth your questions and concerns. I look forward to getting started!
