College is supposed to be when you figure out who you are, which is a strange task to hand someone who's also drowning in problem sets, roommate drama, and a bank account that hits zero the week before rent. If you're queer, trans, neurodivergent, disabled, fat, BIPOC, or some combination, you're doing that figuring-out with fewer road maps and more people who think your existence needs an explanation. At Soma Roots Therapy, we work with students navigating identity, family expectations, body image, burnout, and the specific loneliness of being surrounded by people and still feeling unseen. Our approach pays attention to what's happening in your body, not just your thought spirals, and it starts from the belief that your struggles usually aren't a personal failing — they're a reasonable response to unreasonable systems (capitalism, diet culture, whichever one's currently ruining your week). We're LGBTQIA2S+ affirming, neurodivergent-affirming, and fat-affirming as a baseline, not a specialty. No pronoun explanations required. No convincing us your body is fine as it is. We show up, we listen, and yes, we'll probably crack a joke somewhere in there — healing doesn't have to be humorless, even when it's hard. We see clients by telehealth across Oregon and Washington, so therapy can happen between classes instead of instead of them. I like to think of therapy as a journey of inner exploration and I am along as a guide. I believe that therapy is most effective when it is a combination of intellectual understanding and emotional experience. In that regard, it feels like your feelings are our road signs that we are in the right track to self-growth. I try to not have a specific agenda going into sessions, but rather to go where it is you feel like you need to go at that time. I believe that it is my role to create a safe space for you to express and explore whatever it is that is inside you. Compassion is key, and cultivating self-compassion is one of the most important elements of therapy. I look forward to helping you explore and become more self-aware and self-compassionate!
As a holistic psychiatric nurse practitioner, my practice is deeply rooted in the principles of integrative psychiatry, where the focus is not just on alleviating symptoms but on nurturing overall well-being. I am passionate about partnering with individuals who are ready to explore a new perspective on their mental health journey. In our work together, we'll explore the root causes of your symptoms beyond surface treatments. We'll examine lifestyle factors like diet, inflammation, and physical health, as well as any past trauma and disconnection. Understanding these core issues will help us address the underlying impacts on your mental health. Our goal is to tap into your body’s natural healing by addressing foundational elements holistically. We aim to connect your mind, body, and spirit, promoting not just symptom relief but sustainable well-being. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan to support your unique needs and help you achieve a balanced, fulfilling life.
I provide empathetic, personalized support to college students who are working to adjust to a college environment, managing new and difficult social situations, or working on themselves and discovering their identity now that they are away from home. My approach tends to be more casual and less clinical. I'm excited to help students explore any new and challenging areas they are facing in college.

I believe that we make meaning of our lives through stories. We each have a story of who we are and why our lives unfold the way they do. Our work will explore how these stories influence your present experience and connection to the world. My own story includes themes of a rural upbringing, engaging in the punk and bike messenger scenes, leaning into my queer/trans identities, and learning how to utilize outdoor adventure and movement as a tool for growth and healing. I am interested in working with anyone interested in in nervous system regulation and reconnecting to nature. I am particularly passionate about working outdoor adventurers, athletes, college students, and those in the LGBTQIA+ community. I use a nature based somatic approach that utilizes tools from narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, polyvagal theory, mindfulness practices, and parts work. I see all my work through a trauma-informed lens and I begin with nervous system regulation to set the foundation for growth and change. I provide therapy outdoors, in the office, or online. Please reach out to start your journey today and discover the power and strength within your story. I look forward to working with you.

I believe that a trusting relationship with you is of the utmost importance. During our time together I will work to create an atmosphere of warmth and acceptance so you feel free sharing and exploring whatever is troubling you. My approach is a trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive integration of attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, and cognitive therapy which emphasizes (1) trusting the client as an expert of their own reality, (2) exploring the patterns through which we come to understand ourselves, others, and the world, and (3) seeking meaningful emotional experiences in a safe therapeutic relationship. I will work to build a supportive, trusting, and safe relationship with you so you can bravely identify and confront the challenges you're facing. Counseling can seem like a daunting task to take on, but it also be incredibly rewarding and life-changing. If this sounds like a journey you would like to begin, then please contact me!
Currently accepting members for the Body Acceptance Group for Woman on Zoom. Our goal in group is to help you learn to connect with your body in a shame-free, loving, and enthusiastic way. I hope to help you achieve this through: *Critically evaluating the ways our negative view of bodies has been influenced by our upbringing, peers, and society *Deconstructing internalized body shame *Removing body-shame barriers that stop us from doing activities that bring us joy *Exploring what healthy looks like at every size *Exploring how we can see our bodies as more than objects *Becoming more mindful *Learning to have compassion for ourselves and others. ------- My goal is to help make counseling feel comfortable, safe, and at your pace. We will work collaboratively to help you find your strength, feel empowered and confident, and rediscover meaning and purpose in your life. Talking through past or present tough experiences or hurts can be difficult. It’s tempting to try and ignore them or minimize how they are impacting you. Therapy can be a safe space to help you take the time needed to address your feelings in a way that will help you truly heal from the hurt, and discover how to engage with yourself in a healthy way that enables you to move forward. Therapy with me is a nonjudgmental and collaborative space. I believe that the answers you are looking for are likely already within you, but therapy can help illuminate what those solutions could be. I work in session to address emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and interpersonal relationships, and use mindfulness and other tools that many people have found help them cope with challenging life circumstances. I also lead a group called Body Acceptance for Women, where you'll learn to connect with your body in a shame-free, loving, and enthusiastic way. I recognize that scheduling therapy for the first time can sometimes feel like an intimidating process. My hope is that you will trust that counseling can have a powerful and positive impact on your life. If you are bothered with anxiety, trauma, life transitions, body image issues, feeling unworthy, struggling with relationships, or any other challenge in life, let’s talk about it.

You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or weighed down by the pressures of daily life. Maybe you’ve been carrying old wounds, navigating painful relationships, or struggling to feel like your authentic self in a world that doesn’t always make space for you. You want relief, but also real healing- a chance to feel grounded, connected, and empowered in your own life. As a queer, neurodivergent therapist, I understand the importance of honoring the intersecting identities and systemic influences that shape your journey.
My work is to walk with people in liberatory practices that allow us to return home to ourselves, our communities, and our place in this world. I aim to embody an orientation toward collective liberation. The mental health industry is deeply influenced by white supremacy, capitalism, and colonialism. As a white, queer, gender-resistant, liberation-oriented therapist, I aim to disrupt and dismantle those oppressive systems as they exist within me and in the larger society. I incorporate decolonial, abolitionist, and transformative justice frameworks into our work as we meet one-on-one or in many relational configurations. In addressing the overwhelming effects of systemic inequities and intergenerational traumas, our work together explores how oppressions and intergenerational traumas factor into one’s lived experiences and understandings. This includes the ways that these experiences manifest in our lives as anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns we carry.
