Life presents challenges to everyone, regardless of their circumstances. You often have no control of the challenges that come your way. Your only control is your response, which creates your experience. As a solutions-focused therapist, I collaborate with you to understand the power of your thoughts, and remind you that you have it within yourself to take back control of your emotional health. You are your own expert, and you have an inner vision of what you want to see happen in your life. I will strive to help you develop coping skills, awaken your resiliency and help you to change the long-standing negative perceptions and behavior patterns that prevent you from achieving your inner vision and enjoying your life.

My approach to therapy is collaborative and conversational, in an atmosphere of trust and warmth. Each session is tailored to your individual needs and goals. There is no cookie cutter or one size fits all approach. I pull from a variety of evidence-based practices to provide you with the coping skills to meet your needs and goals. Whether it's anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, stress or any other concern, we will reach that next phase of your life. Life can be challenging and there are times when we need assistance in getting through these challenges. We'll figure out solutions, coping skills, new approaches and or enhance skills that you already have to manage and overcome the challenges. It takes a strong person to be vulnerable to reach out to a therapist, which can be an overwhelming task. I do not take this lightly. I'd love to hear from you and assist you in the next steps.

This is where talking to someone who specializes in managing stress, depression, anxiety and so much more can help you achieve success. I am passionate about working with students throughout their college careers and beyond. Obtaining a higher education is a huge achievement, but that doesn't mean it doesn't come without stress and hardships. Connections-U is an online group with a goal to foster connections with those who are struggling with similar issues such as depression, anxiety, boundaries, motivation, self-esteem, guilt & shame, anger management, grief & loss, thinking errors, codependency, addiction, time management, life adjustment and much, much more! The group meets once per week to gain support from peers through group discussion. The group is educational and interactive focusing on a different topic each week to gain skills and better regulate emotions. Space is limited, contact me today to reserve your spot.

Hello my name is Maureen, and I’m a licensed clinical social worker with 20 years of psychotherapy experience, and everyone is welcome in my practice. I live in Lapeer County, Michigan and have strong ties to Detroit and surrounding area. My therapy practice is via telehealth. I’ve worked with people who have had a wide range of challenges and who needed the help of a compassionate and skilled therapist. Because of my many years of working with a very diverse population of people, I’ve been able to create a very eclectic style that I believe takes the best of each therapy model and am able to create a very tailored treatment for each person who allows me to help them on their journey. I help people to recognize and utilize their strengths and believe that people have the best answers for themselves and need to learn how to find them and use them for their continued growth. I love using interventions that combine supportive and goal directed strategies as well as focusing on the mind-body connection. My favorite form of therapy is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. I’m also trained in Attachment Therapy, EMDR, CBT and many others. I’ve always invested a lot of time and energy into improving my skills for the benefit of my clients, so I frequently attend continuing education seminars and conferences. I’m an Open Path provider (for people who need to pay based on their ability to afford it). I'm also a Give an Hour provider and donate pro-bono services for our military, veterans and their families. I value the opportunity to help everyone get the therapy that they need.

I provide telehealth counseling services to clients in Michigan. Sometimes life throws challenges at us that we need to process with the help of someone who can listen and allow us to explore our experiences and emotions. Together we can identify goals, coping strategies, and techniques that can lead to feeling healthier and happier. My experience has been primarily with teenagers and young adults, but I am happy to work all adults. The next step starts with: 1) Looking at the whole person - habits, health - sleep, diet, movement. 2) Identifying your strengths and how they can be used to help you in challenging situations. 3) Identifying how you are you currently dealing with stress, pain, hurt, or trauma. We will talk about strategies to improve your well-being. I look forward to the opportunity to partner with you on your journey to discovering a stronger, happier, and healthier you. This is the first step on your journey.

Do you know there are 104 words you can find in the 9 letters that make up the word POTENTIAL? There are. I've found every one of them (the first time without an app to help me!). I'm committed to helping my clients find all the things inside to help them live out their potential: heal from trauma, work through anxiety and depression, whatever it may be. I use the good, bad, and otherwise to help them become better.

College and graduate school can be exciting, meaningful, and rewarding—but they can also feel incredibly overwhelming. Many students find themselves struggling to balance academic pressure, relationships, work, family expectations, finances, burnout, anxiety, perfectionism, or simply trying to keep up with the constant demands of daily life. You may look like you’re functioning on the outside while internally feeling exhausted, stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to slow your mind down. I work with college students, graduate students, and young adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, stress management, academic burnout, relationship concerns, self-esteem, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. I also support students who feel caught in cycles of overthinking, procrastination, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or difficulty managing emotions and responsibilities. My approach is supportive, collaborative, and practical. Therapy is not just a place to vent—it’s a space to better understand yourself while also learning concrete tools to help life feel more manageable. Together, we may work on improving coping skills, emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, confidence, organization, or ways to manage stress without constantly feeling like you’re running on empty. I have a background in school-based mental health and understand how emotional wellness directly impacts focus, motivation, relationships, and academic performance. I strive to create a therapy space that feels genuine, nonjudgmental, and approachable, where you can show up exactly as you are without feeling pressure to have everything figured out. Whether you’re struggling quietly, feeling overwhelmed by expectations, or simply wanting more support and balance in your life, you do not have to navigate it alone. I’d be happy to connect and see if we might be a good fit. I offer flexible evenings and weekends via telehealth or in-person Wednesdays and Thursdays 15 minutes from MSU and LCC.

Do you feel stuck in survival mode where anxiety, grief or trauma overwhelms your life? Together, we will build an affirming space where you can feel safe to process, explore and grow. Therapy with me is about collaboratively exploring your life and who you want to be. I believe that health and wellness are best achieved by addressing the whole person, not simply the condition, adverse event or illness/disease. This holistic approach to care respects the individuality of persons, their environments and their physical and emotional needs. The therapeutic relationship is important and necessary in order to move forward in your areas of stagnation. This collaborative effort will allow for exploration when determining which therapeutic approach best matches your identified goals based on symptoms, personality and experiences. My approach is collaborative, warm, engaging and directive. I utilize evidenced based practices and interventions to assist you in meeting your treatment goals and needs. We will develop realistic and obtainable goals along with skill building. Therapy is hard work! Building your best self takes time. I look forward in walking alongside you on this journey.

I believe every person’s story matters. Regardless of what you’ve been told in the past or how others have responded to you, your experiences are important. My goal is to create a space where you feel valued, heard, and respected. Counseling is not about fixing you—it’s about understanding you, honoring your story, and helping you reconnect with calm, clarity, and a sense of direction. Healing begins when you feel safe enough to be honest. As a Certified Advanced Addiction & Drug Counselor, I understand that substance use is often a way of coping with pain, stress, or emotions that feel overwhelming. If you’re struggling with substance use, you may carry guilt, shame, or fear about asking for help. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore what’s behind the behaviors and work toward healthier ways of coping. Recovery is not about perfection—it’s about understanding, support, and building sustainable change one step at a time. My approach to counseling is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practices. I take time to understand your goals, listen closely to your experiences, and gently guide the process through education, reflection, and meaningful conversation. We may explore family patterns, past experiences, and current stressors to better understand what’s contributing to your challenges. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but small, steady steps can lead to lasting change. If you’re ready to explore whether counseling could be helpful for you, I’m here to support you. Whether you’re working through trauma, managing ADHD, navigating substance use concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don’t have to do it alone. You can email directly to schedule appointments at JDusendang@greatlakeswellnesscounseling.com

Many of the people I see feel overwhelmed by ADHD and want support from someone who truly understands how it affects daily life. Some also carry trauma or PTSD and are looking for a safe place to work through what they have been holding. They want practical tools, honest feedback, and a therapist who understands how their brain works.
