Hi, my name is Karla Gossens. I’m a therapist who understands that starting therapy can hard. I've worked with individuals for many years to explore the possibilities of change in a safe and open environment. From anxiety and depression to complex trauma, I'm happy to work with you to better understand what is going on and how to get back to your most natural self. Through the years, I've had experience working with many young adults and college students. I specialize in complex trauma and adult attachment, but also offer therapy for anxiety, depression, self-esteem, general stress, life transitions, and religious wounds. I understand that starting counseling can be an awkward and anxious thing, which is why I focus on a low pressure introduction and virtual therapy that allows you to stay in the environment that is most comfortable to you. Please feel free to reach out to me, I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. Note: My income based sliding scale fee ranges from $60-$150 for on going sessions. Life can sometimes be a whirlwind. As a therapist, I am very passionate about to providing a non-judgmental supportive space that empowers clients to regain a sense of control and balance over their lives. I believe everyone has the ability to spark positive changes, we just may need some understanding and encouragement to do so. We may often feel alone and seeking help can be difficult. In a world that constantly pulls your attention in a thousand directions, it’s easy to feel like you’re drifting through college rather than actually living it. At Greater Presence Counseling, we believe true healing begins when you stop rushing past the present moment. We integrate clinical expertise with a focus on holistic health to help you shift from feeling overwhelmed to living with intention and clarity. As a former Director of Academic Advising, I bring a deep, practical understanding of the unique pressures you face into therapy. I know how interconnected academic and career goals, and personal well-being really are. Together, we’ll work on what it looks like to cultivate greater presence in every part of your life so you can achieve your goals without losing yourself in the process.
Many of the students I work with are trying to juggle a lot: school, work, relationships, family, and their own mental health. Some are dealing with anxiety, depression, or ADHD, while others are working through trauma or just feeling stuck and overwhelmed. What they tend to have in common is a desire to feel better and a willingness to take that first step toward support, even if they’re not exactly sure where to start. I work best with students who want someone who will listen without judgment, explain things clearly, and help them find a path that fits their unique goals, whether that includes therapy, medication, or both. You don’t need to have it all figured out before reaching out. We can work through it together.
