*ACCEPTING CLIENTS FOR JANUARY 2025.* I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist, and together, we can explore how your past experiences have shaped who you are today. You will gain self-understanding, self-compassion, and begin to feel happier and more fulfilled. My clients are individuals and couples with a wide variety of concerns, including relationship issues, anxiety, grief, depression, and trauma. I can help you navigate unwanted emotions and get you ready to cope with any difficult life circumstances that might arise in the future. My past clients have described me as “non-judgmental, kind, and someone who calls them on their bullshit.” I also love working with people in non-traditional relationships as well as LGBT individuals and couples. I also specialize in transgender-affirmative therapy, and have worked with trans and non-binary clients who are questioning gender, people who are in the middle of a physical and/or social transition, and individuals who are either post-transition or have made other decisions in this regard. Even if your gender identity is not the topic you want to explore in therapy, I will provide an accepting environment where you can explore whatever you think will be most useful. If this sounds like what you are looking for, please email me to set up a 20-minute phone conversation so we can see if we would be a good fit.
Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, even the strongest people amongst us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or any other issue, you should know that there is hope for a better tomorrow. You might be initially hesitant to seek out help and support for personal matters, but when you do, you will feel confident that you are taking a courageous first step towards getting to a better place and being a better you. My practice specializes in treating individuals, couples and families, and through years of experience, I’m confident that no problem is too great to overcome. Through therapy, there is always a way to address the issues you face and learn coping strategies to help you both right now and in the future.
Many people want to be listened to and to feel that their experience can be acknowledged authentically in us talking together. When we put things into words it may be easier to think and to make choices about what matters to you and to your very own well being. My hours include morning and afternoon. Currently, I am working by telephone and video.
Are you ready for change? What I love most about my work is seeing clients make meaningful strides toward feeling better—little by little, day by day. As an experienced anxiety therapist in Rochester and Pittsford NY I specialize in helping clients identify and change the negative thoughts and beliefs that impact their happiness and well-being. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we’ll work to transform those self-critical, anxious thoughts into more positive, empowering ones. This shift can be life-changing—whether it’s managing ANXIETY, overcoming DEPRESSION, tackling SOCIAL PHOBIAS, or working through TRAUMA. I’m here to help you make that shift and find relief.

If you’re looking for a fellow traveler to walk alongside you through life’s challenges, I am here to support you. Whether you are new to therapy, or therapy is familiar to you, you deserve a space where your whole story is heard and valued. I specialize in working with people who have often felt like the odd person out— like they are navigating worlds that weren’t built for them. Individuals carrying the weight of difficult family dynamics or persistent criticism; or moving through identity shifts or life transitions that leave them unsure of who they are becoming. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone— and you’re not broken. My approach is active and collaborative because sitting and listening isn't enough to foster meaningful insight. I integrate Psychodynamic psychotherapy & Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) with a focus on the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for healing. I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) & sensory calming techniques to settle your nervous system. From the first session our work will feel like a conversation. I am interested in you & learning about the rhythms of your life. We'll talk about your sleep, stress, what and who matters to you, as well as the challenges you're facing. We'll also talk about your history and how it has informed your sense of self. You have the space to decide if we're a fit.
Getting help can be frightening. When suffering feels unclear or confusing, having someone to shed light on what you are going through makes a world of a difference. I have had a career of helping many people in tough moments while providing a safe, healing and empathic environment. I continue my beliefs and commitment to providing this to people dealing with trauma, depression and anxiety. It’s important to have someone in kinship to your journey. Find a renewed sense of comfort, wholeness and understanding to your experience. A relational space which allows open dialogue and collaboration over your life situation will bring about positive change and insight into needs, decisions or ambivalences. Common approaches can help someone cope on a moment-to-moment basis. Meanwhile, layers of your experiences and whether significant relationships have met your needs still necessitate insight and healing.

My approach to therapy is focused on developing genuine relationships that are collaborative and empathic, so clients can feel safe, understood, and supported in sessions. I’m committed to exploring and affirming each client's individuality and intersecting identities, and to supporting individuals in the LGBTQ+ and CNM communities, college students, and professors. I work with adults focused on issues related to social anxiety, ADHD, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, relationship/communication dynamics, and climate anxiety. Sessions are based on a foundation of relational warmth and safety to build a sense of connection, empowerment, deeper insight, and personal resiliency. I primarily draw from person-centered, feminist, trauma-informed, narrative, and IFS approaches, but there is not one specific kind of therapy that works well for everyone. We all have unique strengths and perspectives. Sessions focus on identifying ways to create sustainable positive changes given each client's particular context and lived experience.
Therapy is a unique experience and I believe that we as humans are most balanced when we feel safe and understood, non-judgmentally. As a bilingual therapist (English and Spanish), I strive to ensure that clients are provided the space to effectively express themselves in a way that makes sense to them. I have years of experience working with college students like you who may be feeling overwhelmed with the load of academics, expectations, and also trying to maintain a social life and practice self-care. Sometimes, just having a neutral person to talk to is all you need. My approach to therapy is prioritizing your needs and personalizing sessions to reflect that. Specifically, the therapeutic styles that I utilize are Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I believe that therapy is done at your pace. Ultimately, therapy is about recognizing that your mental health matters (just as much as physical health) and valuing the process to get there.

I help adults 18 and over identify thought patterns and behaviors that are no longer working for them. I can help you learn ways to effectively cope with anxiety, depression, and feelings of overwhelm while you are navigating college life. I truly enjoy working with young adults, and look forward to speaking with you to discuss how I may be able to help.
In helping teens, and young adults, I employ a combination of compassion, creativity, warmth, understanding, and humor with clinically proven treatment methods. During my 20+ years of experience I have found that a good collaborative therapeutic relationship combined with skill-based strategies and techniques results in positive and lasting changes. I endeavor to create a nonjudgemental and safe therapuetic environment for my clients. My work is informed by recent advances in both neuroscience and psychology, and draws from Internal Family Systems, Positive Psychology, Solution Focused Therapy, and Cognitive Behvaioral Therapy.
I’m a psychotherapist and trauma-focused yoga teacher with an approach grounded in psychoanalytic theory and practice. While I work with a wide variety of folks, I have a soft spot for artists and young adults. Although rooted in psychoanalysis, I practice eclectically, meaning I tailor our sessions to your individualized needs while offering a warm, attentive environment in which your experiences, feelings, and questions are explored. I place a strong emphasis on building a trusting therapeutic relationship with you so that we explore patterns shaped by past relationships and experiences to make room for greater authenticity and self-understanding. I don’t see psychotherapy as a way to fix or judge, but as a way to learn to approach ourselves with curiosity, and maybe even a little humor, whether this is through talk therapy, trauma-focused yoga, or a combination of the two.
