Our Mission Statement: An Innovative Approach to Therapy Here at Tompkins Community Counseling, we tailor to your needs and will work in the environment that is best for you. Our goal is to provide you with professional, client-led, goal-based counseling, while working in whatever setting is most comfortable for you— in the community, online, or in our office. We understand how difficult it can be to ask for help and discuss your life challenges, so we try to make the journey as comfortable as possible for you. Simply put, we achieve this by following your lead throughout the counseling process. We use a Client-Led Counseling model, finding strengths that you already have and building on them to reach resolutions. We follow the pace of our clients to help them achieve control over their lives, helping them make positive choices by offering them specific tools and practical strategies for change. We also practice a wide variety of treatment models and support you in choosing one that is a good fit for you. We will help you to define your long term goals, allowing our sessions to be driven by focused goals that will lead to a successful discharge.
Many of the people I work with have complicated histories and families. They have struggled with relationships and symptoms of one kind or another and come to therapy to share their experiences, often for the very first time. I earned my doctorate at Rutgers University in the School of Social Work and I have been in private practice for over twenty-five years working with adults, couples, adolescents and families. I received my MSW at Columbia University and a Post Masters Certificate in Individual Therapy at Hunter College School of Social Work. I completed my psychoanalytic training at The Center for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis of New Jersey; I serve on the Board of Directors and Training Committee as Dean of Students and I teach and supervise psychotherapists. My approach to therapy utilizes Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Attachment Theory, Trauma Theory, Emotionally Focused Theory (EFT), and EMDR.
The decision to seek psychotherapy is a life-changing choice. Whether you are seeking therapy to address a specific concern or simply to engage in a personal exploration, the therapeutic process can help increase self-awareness, process trauma, improve your relationships with others and with yourself, identify healthier coping skills, and improve your overall well-being. I want to hear your story and help you live the life you want for yourself. I take a holistic, person-centered approach considering all aspects - mental, emotional, social, physical, and spiritual - when caring for my patients. My style is warm, interactive and collaborative and I strive to provide a compassionate, supportive environment where healing and growth can take place. Choosing a therapist is a personal decision and one to be considered with great care. I invite you to call me for an initial phone consultation to determine whether working with me feels like a good match.

Finding someone you feel comfortable with is important when searching for a therapist. Clients say I am warm, compassionate and non-judgmental, and provide a comfortable, relaxed and safe environment. My style is down to earth, and you will find it easy to talk to me and feel understood. My clients are individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, employment or relationship problems, or various life transitions. They may feel anxious, sad, angry, frustrated, depressed or confused. Sometimes they feel overwhelmed by their feelings, relationships, or life circumstances. Managing work or school, family and friendships is often demanding and stressful. I use an interactive approach to help clients re-examine fixed patterns of behavior that keep them stuck in unsatisfying situations. Past experiences, including relationships, can sometimes overload our thoughts and feelings. Increased awareness and new insights can often free clients to make more authentic and creative choices. I help clients find and build on their strengths, so that no matter what the reasons were that brought them to therapy, they become able to appreciate themselves in a deep and lasting way. Taking the step to call someone takes courage, and I look forward to receiving your call.

I am a therapist, addiction counselor, and yoga teacher with 10 years of experience. I specialize in mindfulness-based approaches to therapy. I believe that learning to stay present in the moment helps clients break free from being stuck in the past or overwhelmed by worries about the future. By combining Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I help clients build awareness, self-compassion, and resilience. My goal is to support individuals in making meaningful, lasting changes that enhance their well-being and help them live more fully in alignment with their values. I believe in using the power of the therapeutic relationship to cultivate connection and shift perspective. I work from a holistic and integrative approach to help clients reach their full potential in all areas of life. My experience spans various settings including inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance use treatment programs.
I believe people have the inherent capacity to heal and grow. To support this change, I provide a nonjudgmental, warm, and collaborative therapeutic space. I will work with you to tap into your strengths, gain insight into behaviors that might currently feel stuck or confusing, and learn skills to empower you to effectively deal with stress and emotional ups and downs. My approach is tailored to your specific goals and circumstances, and typically includes a mixture of traditional “talk” therapy with mindfulness, somatic, and trauma-informed practices. I am committed to an anti-oppressive, inclusive approach that welcomes all experiences. I am licensed to provide telehealth in NY, GA, and FL. I also provide in-person sessions in GA.
Whether you are struggling with past or recent trauma, anger, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship concerns or marital issues, it is important that you know you do not have to be alone in this journey. You deserve someone who will listen intently, understand fully, and provide an open, supportive, and non-judgmental space to rebuild through. No problem is too great to overcome if you are willing to do the work. Therapy helps you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, become free of old patterns, or simply find ways to process pain or memories that have kept you feeling stuck. It is a healing process that allows you to not only start feeling better but gain insight, awareness, and ultimately begin trusting your intuition and experience. Relationships are as capable of hurt and pain as they are for healing. At Clear Direction Psychological Services, you will learn with the support, expertise, knowledge and guidance of your psychologist how to better relate to and understand your experiences, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships, and challenges. S H A D O W L I G H T CENTER is a holistic and alternative approach to traditional talk therapy. We offer sessions on Zoom. We are both POC as well as racial justice and LGBTQIA+ allies devoted to deconstructing systems of harm to humans and non-humans resulting from racial, heteronormative, and hierarchical power structures. We are licensed in New York to provide therapy and practice holistic help to people outside of New York State. We integrate the mind-body-spirit (this is not a faith-based approach). We are trauma-informed and create safe spaces for you to be heard for issues large and small that college students face both in and beyond college. We weave mindfulness, somatic awareness, ancestral healing, spiritual connection, finding purpose, grief counseling, energy balancing, post-psychedelic therapy integration, and more. We specialize in helping people understand how mental health issues like depression, anxiety, etc. are related to ancestral traumas, the pain present on the earth right now, as well as our personal histories. Conventional Western wisdom says it’s only about the self, i.e. a "chemical imbalance". But wellness is more complex and inter-connected than we have been made to believe. Clinical specialist: trauma (childhood sexual abuse and cult abuse) and Cluster B personality disorders (including narcissistic abuse). You look high-functioning on the outside—but your relationships, emotions, or sense of self may tell a different story. Sound familiar? You may be stuck in painful relationship patterns, drawn to emotionally unavailable or narcissistic partners, struggling with identity instability, emotional overwhelm, chronic emptiness, or the lasting effects of trauma. Integrating EMDR, somatic therapy, parts work, and depth psychology approaches, I help patients move beyond insight alone to create meaningful, lasting change. This work is especially well-suited for individuals who are ready to understand themselves more deeply, heal long-standing patterns, and move beyond survival mode—not just manage symptoms.
