Therapists for college students near New York University
You - feeling overwhelmed, stuck, like the world is on fire and you're supposed to just "cope." You - navigating relationships, friendships, and family, questioning who you are, thinking "what's next?" Sessions with me - a space for you to talk things out, get clarity and confidence, and a better relationship with your self. You show up as you are, and we go from there, without you feeling judged or "therapized" like it's going out of style. (Although that is something I can provide if you really want! We can figure it out as we go, that's kind of the point!) My approach to therapy is relational, which means I believe the trust and connection between therapist and client is paramount to the healing process. I see you as the expert of your life and my role is support and guide you with compassion and curiosity. Together we can explore what's working, what's not, and how you can move forward. I'm especially passionate about supporting women, college students, and LGBTQ+ folks as you navigate the complexities that come with living in today's world. Therapy should be a place of growth, insight, and finding the joy among the hurt. If you're ready to explore and create meaningful change for yourself, I'd love to work with you!

There are things that you have to deal with that are too difficult to take on by yourself. Unfortunately, it is not always clear which direction to take- you need someone to bounce ideas off of, someone who is objective and has the experience to help you find your way. I believe that you have the tools you need to make the changes that you need to make. My role as therapist is to help you find those tools within yourself and to learn trust yourself enough to use them. I have worked with clients who are dealing with adjustment, life-stage transitions, identity issues and family problems. Many of my clients seek therapy for relationship issues and when struggling with grief, depression or anxiety.
I work with adults and teens experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and trauma. Therapy is a space where you can develop insight into how you became the person you are, while learning to have more compassion for yourself. You can explore how to cope with life's challenges in a way that feels healthy and practical. So many of us are carrying heavy emotional burdens which impact how we show up in the world, for our families, and for ourselves. We often feel alone with our feelings, stuck in a place of shame, unsure of how to heal and move forward. I believe we are greatly influenced by our early experiences with our families and caregivers. How did those experiences mold you into who you are, and how might they be holding you back? Changing your relationship with yourself is integral to living the life you want. My work also includes helping clients to look at how their thoughts impact mood and behavior. I enjoy integrating mindfulness practices and other strategies so that clients gain practical strategies to deal with the inevitable challenges we all face. Let's move from a place of self-blame to a place of acceptance and healing. Please reach out today.

Hey, man. Your friends, family, or your partner aren't supposed to be your therapist. You need an outlet where you can be vulnerable, speak freely, and unburden yourself without any fear of backlash that could damage the relationship. You want a return on investment of the time, money, and energy that you put into therapy because that's what matters most. You need a therapist who gets you because you deserve to build a life worth living. This relationship needs to feel right, and you want a therapist who can join you through the truth, tell you like it is, and help you find the best tools for your toolbox. Usually, clients connect with me because of challenges connected to men's issues, grief & loss, emotion regulation, relationship issues, and life transitions through pregnancy and postpartum.

Our team of therapists pull from a myriad of evidence based treatment modalities to meet the individual needs of our clients. Some of the most well known and effective therapy modalities we offer are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). One of the goals of CBT is to replace negative thoughts and actions with productive behaviors that make the individual feel equipped to overcome any difficult moment. DBT emphasizes individual psychotherapy and group skills training classes to help people learn and use new skills and strategies to develop a life worth living. DBT skills include, skills for mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. We work with our clients to help them recognize how their thinking influences their emotions and behaviors and to establish personalized effective coping mechanisms. Doing so will ultimately help you identify and effectively manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in real-world situations.
Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, particularly experiences related to family of origin and attachment. While I work with adults of all ages, I have a special interest in supporting emerging adults - including college, graduate, and medical students - as they manage the emotional and relational challenges that can arise during these stages of life. I support clients in addressing current life challenges while also seeking to answer questions about why these challenges exist in the first place. I do this through a collaborative, relational, and trauma-informed approach that blends deeper insight with practical support. Drawing from psychodynamic and attachment-based work, along with CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, I help clients understand patterns, regulate emotions, and build skills that support meaningful, lasting change. Starting therapy can feel uncertain, and it’s completely normal to have questions or mixed emotions. Please know you don’t have to figure it out on your own. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. If you’re considering therapy, I invite you to reach out to see if we would be a good fit.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist (in the states of Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Ohio) who has been practicing for over 10 years. I have years of experience working with college students as I am a former College Counseling Center Director and worked in counseling centers as well as have seen college students in my private practice. I have years of experience providing both clinically and culturally competent therapy (meaning I collaborate with students to address topics they want to in therapy using tools/strategies that have been proven helpful and I take into consideration a student's various social identities and how that may impact how they experience the world). I find that I work well with students who are working through life transitions, adjustments, relationship stressors, experiencing anxiety(including those who experience social anxiety) depression, a desire to increase their self-esteem, racial trauma, or are in need increasing their overall coping skills.
