I am the founder of Ascend Mentoring and Counseling, a practice built to serve as a supportive launchpad for individuals navigating high-pressure transitions, identity development, and the overwhelming weight of expectation. College and early adulthood are times of incredible growth, but they can also bring intense anxiety, stress, and moments of feeling completely lost. It's my belief to "Keep life simple." Life is stressful enough. Balancing work, family, social life, friends, and relationships can be overwhelming at times. I practice from a harm reduction holistic theoretical orientation. It combines person-centered (respect for autonomy) with CBT/systemic therapy (a critical look at culture and attachments). By identifying wants and needs, I can assist clients with locating triggers and establishing healthy coping skills to alleviate any mental, emotional, or physical stress. I work particularly with parents and clients dealing with ADHD, Life choices, anxiety, self-esteem and accountability. I assist clients in adjusting to unexpected life transitions by constructing healthier boundaries with themselves and others to balance their lifestyles. I value the importance of creating a supportive, transparent, and collaborative relationship throughout the therapy process. I do this by providing a safe space for clients to embrace their vulnerabilities. Difficult experiences often show up in the body. Accessing embodied experience helps clients evolve. These shifts in the body have a corresponding effect on our actions, routines, and relationships. Through mindful awareness, we discover how the body holds our experiences. We learn to recognize habitual patterns and create new ones. The healing starts now...

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist, providing support and guidance to LGBTQ+ folks who often don’t see themselves represented in the world around them or reflected in their search for the right-fit therapist. While I regularly help folks work through depression, anxiety, and trauma, we also freely discuss other topics that might not otherwise feel comfortable, including sex, faith, and the impact of diet culture. Nothing is off limits. I also regularly work with neurodivergent folks, especially around the emotional impact of ADHD, and exploring autistic identity. I am licensed in both New York and Wisconsin, and see clients throughout both states through video sessions.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist and Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. For me, being a physician is more than a profession—it is a vocation to help indviduals flourish. My practice is devoted to students and young adults seeking thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care that extends beyond symptom relief. I provide comprehensive evaluations that consider medical, nutritional, lifestyle, and psychological factors—including laboratory testing when clinically appropriate—to identify the contributors to emotional and cognitive health. I also specialize in evidence-based de-prescribing for patients who wish to reduce or discontinue psychiatric medications for anxiety, attention difficulties, or substance use disorders. My approach is guided by precision, humility, and restraint: using the least intensive intervention necessary while drawing upon the full breadth of evidence-based medicine. Depending on each patient's needs and goals, I integrate psychotherapy, nutrition, lifestyle medicine, exercise, targeted supplementation, and, when appropriate, carefully selected medications into a personalized treatment plan. In addition to my clinical work, I have presented internationally on psychiatric deprescribing and medical ethics. My work has been recognized with awards from the American Psychiatric Association, the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and other leading professional organizations. I am the Founder & Medical Director of Verigrate Health. I am licensed to serve patients in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Lousiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin.
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with more than 15 years of experience in community mental health. I have worked across a wide range of settings, including outpatient therapy, crisis services, and intensive community programs, and have supported people through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. In addition to providing therapy, I have supervised clinical teams and led mental health programs, giving me a broad perspective on what truly helps people heal. I work with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions. I provide LGBTQ+ affirming care and am committed to creating a space where clients of all identities feel respected, understood, and safe to be themselves. My style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. I believe therapy should feel like a steady place where you can be honest about what you’re going through—without judgment or pressure to be anything other than yourself. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship and helping clients develop practical tools while also making space for deeper healing and self-understanding.

The transition to undergraduate or graduate school can be a very vulnerable time, and many experience depression, anxiety, and anger along the way. It can be challenging to reach out for support and get connected, but it doesn’t have to be. I am honored to support and hold space for those struggling during these transitions. I have experience and interest in relationship issues, adjustment to life transitions, issues with family of origin, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, and other mood concerns. I have specialized training in perinatal mental health, sexual health, self-compassion, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I strive to use a non-judgmental, empathetic, and validating stance to help clients heal and grow, incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and self-compassion. Please reach out if you feel we may be a good fit!
